Whats the guys bet? Its not worth the effort on a $5 or $10 bet, imo.Even at $25,I'm not sure its really worth all that much.

So $26 on a $25 bet. As you are costing the casino money,I don't think it worth pissing off the guy you are going to ask for a comp.

Buy at a TC<3 - sure to attract unwanted attention because your stealing the houses action.

How the hell do you act fast enough to stop the transaction? Unlike people scouring their wallets for double down money, taking even money takes about a second to accomplish - you need to make your proposal pretty quickly if you're going to intercept this one.

I do it every chance I get when the count justifies it. It's a positive play. I also purchase hands people incorrectly surrender and fill their double downs if they double down for less. Just make sure you get all the money you are entitled to.

The only exception is that I don't like to double down on other player's hands if they decided just to hit. This is because a player has gotten angry at me when he drew an ace to his 11 and wanted to hit again but couldn't because of my double.

It's not my bet level that matters, but the other players' bet levels, since its their hands I'm buying. I've done it on as little as $15 to as much as $100.

In my local casino, they won't allow bet buying. Only the originator of the bet can put further cash on the table on that bet.

Stops collusion I guess.

anyway, they're dead against it here... and I wouldn't endanger comps just to make a few bucks here and there...

I think people are getting mixed up here. A blackjack is worth more than even money only in counts BELOW +3.

reading blue book the other day, it's something like $104 on a $100 bet. i think.
This is far too expensive, I think you guys are thinking about this wrong.

The $100 would be to pay the bet of only $50 and also pay the even money $50 win. As its only a $50 bet the extra 50% paid for blackjack would only be $25.

You would be risking $104 to make $21 and paying out 16% of what your trying to make, the TC would need to be below -1. to make this viable.

Below +3 you should buy $100 for only an extra dollar or less.

Yeah, I was trying to make the point that you only want to buy blackjacks in lower counts, NOT positive. People were seeming to think you would want to buy them in higher counts...
