Wisconsin Casino recommendations -

So I admit I don't have the latest copy of CBJN, but the Wisconsin casino data is pretty out of date anyways.

I am traveling between St. Minn and Chicago.

Any suggestions? I see that there is Ho-Chunk (not as good?), but right on the way.

There is also Majestic Pines (close to hwy)

Lastly there is Turtle Creek which is a little bit of a haul, but seems playable.

Any suggestions? Is Turtle Creek worth getting off the hwy for?

My suggestions. CBJN is wrong most of the time. Why would anyone who is a serious AP suck up to Wong by shooting their mouth off and endangering a revenue stream for nothing or next to it. Those who do so have a serious personality disorder, they are frantically searching for acceptance and are prone to hero worship, they are syncophants. If I am ever seated at a table with one of these Traitors I will F:devil: their game up big time. :bomb:

My suggestion to you, first of all GET OFF THE HWY! You are travelling to a beautiful state, explore.... the trees, water, forests, and fauna is not going to bite you. You fly to Vegas often to play, what is the big deal about a little drive here and there

Price of gas got you down...hope not, because that is nothing at present compared to what you can win,,,,, or lose at a BJ table...it is a pittance. Time...hmmm since you are considering it I think you have the time.

To tell you what is good or bad in this situation is foolish, things often change weekly, even daily. You will be there, be like Lewis and Clark, check it out first hand, snoop around, enjoy, what an exciting experience it can be.

You may find a jewel in the rough. Ho-Chunk does not have the greatest rep, but so what...you will be there, check it out, get a players card, maybe free money comes with it, maybe offers in the mail, maybe a discount on a good meal.

I never pass up a casino, and will for sure drive out of my way to explore....just do it.

Another suggestion, bring lotsa money.

Turtle Lake may be worth a look.

I've had good and bad experiences there. They have a shortage on dealers right now since they're not allowed to work over 32 hours, so you may find conditions to be intolerably crowded.

Sometimes they cut their DD in half, sometimes they are more generous. Turtle Lake is a casino where one "takes ones chances."

Of the three you have mentioned, I have had the most luck finding a quality game at Majestic Pines in Black River Falls. I haven't been there in a while, but last time I was there, they had a 2 deck game with 15 min and 100 max. Pen varied, but have definitely found 75% numerous times. Problem is that this is a small casino, so the 1 (sometimes 2) DD games are usually crowded. I have also found decent games the 3 or 4 times I have been to Turtle Lake. It is a quite a bit bigger than M Pines and has numerous DD games. It is a little out of your way, but may be worth it! I believe they have some higher table max's as well if that is a factor. Ho Chunk is last on my list. Biggest of the 3, but very busy and hard to find a quality game, but not impossible! I just have never found very good pen in the 2 deck there. Another of the beaten path is Rainbow in Nekoosa. They have about the same game quality as Majestic Pines, but very low roller joint. If you have the time, I recommend stopping at Ho Chunk, then make the hourish drive to Rainbow, then making the hourish drive to Majestic Pines, then head to the Twin Cities, and if you have the time make the detour to Turtle Lake. I have made the Ho Chunk/Rainbow/M Pines loop many times! Hope this helps!

correction

I posted the route if you where starting off in Chicago. If starting in Twin Cities, obviously reverse the order. Turtle Lake-M Pines- Rainbow-Ho Chunk. This to me is even better because you can hit the best 2 in my opinion (T Lake and M Pines) and then adjust your schedule from there.

Personally I have never seen max limits higher than that in MN or WI. Grand Casinos claim to offer $2000 maxes in their high limit rooms. But I haven't seen them when I have been there.

I think Potawatami (sp?) in Milwaukee might have higher limits but I have not been there in a while

Potowatomie in Milwaukee had nice pen last I checked a couple months ago. They seemed to have loosened up their games, both in BJ and VP. It can be hard to get a decent seat; the Wisconsin casinos tend to keep tables crowded.

Boy those Casinos in Wisconsin are small!!!

As my comparison, I have been looking at the large Michigan casinos specifically the Detroit casinos, Four Winds, Blue Chip, etc. I admit I haven't been to smaller Michigan Upper P casinos.

I honestly don't remember the exact number of tables at Majestic Pines...maybe less than 10? Basically just one pit.

Turtle Lake is the middle of nowhere.
The games are good. Lower limits all around. Lower min-max spreads.
Good pen. Less overall total EV given the limits (by total amount available to bet and not by bet unit)

I do agree that the lower limits protect the casino from roving players doing a huge hit and run.

Potowatomie in Milwaukee had nice pen last I checked a couple months ago. They seemed to have loosened up their games, both in BJ and VP. It can be hard to get a decent seat; the Wisconsin casinos tend to keep tables crowded.

This Casino has nice high limits. Baccarat with a $5000 max bet, and Roulette up to $500 outside bet. love this Casino. !

First of all, there is no Turtle Creek casino in WI. There is a Turtle Lake in WI but you would have to go a ways out of you way to get there.

I recommend taking Highway 29 from St Paul to Green Bay. There are 3 casinos in the Green Bay area that are only a short distance from Highway 29.
By the way, Highway 29 is a good 4 lane highway even though it is not an interstate highway. Then from Green Bay south to Chicago. I would play North Star casino and Oneida Casino. North Star has alot of double deck and if you play $25 min tables for 4 or more hours they will usually comp you a room. Check with them before you start. Their hotel is pretty small so it might be difficult to get a room on weekends. I had my biggest one day win of my life at North Star earlier this year.
