Wonging out

I have a friend with me who knows basic strategy...... he doesnt have a large bankroll so he really cant bet much more on the positive counts..... When the rc reaches -8 we leave the table and have a cigarette. I was hoping one of you math guys would tell me if he has cut the casino odds to nothing.... again he flat bets but every time the rc gets bad we leave the table... thank you in advance

It probably depends on #decks and rules, but I would think he is still playing with a disadvantage if he flat-bets but wongs out.

I'd leave at TC = -1.5, so depends on how many decks remain. So at RC = -8, I'd leave at about 1.5 decks played

Ran two quick sims for 6 decks, S17, DOA, DAS, 4.25 decks dealt. Basic strategy EV = -.42%.

SIM #1:
Flat bet all the way, but wong out at a Hi/Lo R/C of -8 or greater (11% of all hands). EV = -.17%.

SIM #2:
Same as above, but stand on 16 vs. 10 at R/C of +1 or greater (44% frequency), and bet 2 units at R/C of +6 or greater (18% frequency). EV = +.07%.

Renegade, if you're already that rigorous about wonging about, what about just wonging in, even with a count of +1 or something modest, and wonging out at 0?

Or wong in at +2, wong out at any negative count, and play with a pretty strong edge. There are lots of fun options for people on short bankrolls. Wong-in and play 3 hands at a $5 table, etc.
