Money talks...bullsh*t works. This is exactly the case in this ###### Casino. This guy tips the dealer handsomely, and he gets 5.25 out of 6 decks pen. It seems that the management is aware of, Okay , and overlooks this tip-for-pen-practice, i.e., the Super-Catcher stands near that 6decker pit and chats away casually with other pitcritters ;).

To tip or not to tip for pen...that's the question for you guys :confused:

Ya, I have used tipping to my advantage for many years, just gotta be very smart about it as it is all about you,,not the dealer.

The patron tips and gets the favor back. He does not ask the dealer to cut it deep, does he ?

And is this in the least emp morale casino or the paranoid one?

I've found that a well placed toke here and there (needn't be too huge) gets nice pen and alot less if any shouts of "checks play"! If you watch Boardwalk Empire just look at what tipping did for Nucky when he wanted the Presidential Suite!:joker:

Hint;): all its employees are now on the 90-DAY-PROBATION, including the brand new super-catcher ;), who was recently laid off from the Taj and hired by this casino. Don't get nailed by this catcher when you play there. He gets to pass his 90-day-probation by catching some APs to make himself look good;).

Thanks to the power of Internet. I just keep on coming up with clues & hints for you guys through my fingertips on a keyboard by Googling, i.e., the Titanic photo, the news about this ##### casino's 90-day-probation imposed on all its employees, etc...;)

Why must you resort to this kind of banter?

I don't believe tipping helps get good pen, not in the AC environment. Nobody but us understands the significance of good pen and who would want it or why.

What it can help with is getting better comps, especially with a dual-rate PC. They are using us as a conduit to transfer the casino's wealth to themselves and giving us a piece of the action.

I would have agreed with you until I heard it with my own ears...

There's a DD game I play which used to have 75-90% pen. They changed it to 50%. All the ploppies stopped playing. I heard 2 reasons as they complained to the pit:
1. Too much shuffling
2. All the good cards come out in the second half of the deck!

In a 6D game, I agree with you. Unless it's half-shoed, nobody will notice (and even then, many won't).

Update...

Tipping does more than just getting better pen... it encourages a dealer (Okayed by floorperson) to deal extra rounds., i.e., a relief-dealer tapped a regular bj dealer out for a coffee break. A winning player tipped $50 and asked the regular dealer to stay and finished up in dealing the shoe. The dealer couldn't refuse the $50 toke and did stay to deal out the shoe. The player won extra $2,000 by the time the shoe ended. Again, money talks, bullsh*t works. Even the floorperson joked: " no one can refuse 50 bucks!":laugh:

Maybe I'm missing something but that is a colassal waste of $50. Aside from 1 burn card the relief dealer would have dealt the same exact cards so the $50 gained no real extra advantage at all. It seems to be just a real superstitious way to lose your money, in this case anyway.

But that one burn card would have disrupted The Sacred Flow Of The Cards.
Thankfully, one astute player realized this and took one for the team.

I have never tipped with hopes that a dealer would cut good pen, only that he or she will continue to cut good pen, and then only if I size him or her up to be sympathetic to counters and/or soliciting tips. Some dealers who cut good pen are clueless that they are doing anything that favors anyone.

If all you're doing is counting cards; yes - it IS pretty much a waste of 50 bucks. But the first part of your statement is ALSO true - maybe you're missing something. ;) I've been known to tip MUCH more than 50 bucks, for similar favors...... SOMETIMES a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! :)

Well his post sounds like a ploppy giving the 50 bucks, but I would gladly pay to play my lucky dealers ;)

In fact, I'll only play against my "lucky" dealers.

I understand what you're saying, but thats why at the end of my post I said "in this case anyway". I didn't feel the need to state the obvious in my previous post, but a new player reading the thread that knows very little about finding "special dealers" doesn't need to think handing out $50 bucks to get cards dealt to them is a good idea. Experienced ap's may find occasions to tip exorbitantly, but even then there are sometimes better ways to get your way. Overtipping away EV although sometimes a tool of the trade, should be the last tool out of the box.

At what point do you relegate them to your "unlucky" dealer category? :confused: One bad shoe? two bad shoes? I can't get my hands around your concept.
