JSTAT's response to his temporary ban here has been posted via his San Francisco Examiner site:

His month-long ban is set to expire here sometime in the next few days anyway, so I'm not sure why he delayed so long in posting this. I was expecting it immediately in late July!

As for the reason for his temporary ban here, it certainly wasn't to stifle an opposing point of view. JSTAT's posts of his system (whatever he's been willing to disclose at least) are intact here, for anyone to see.

What I DO object to is his habit of repeatedly posting the same misinformation over and over again, and ignoring any reasoned responses that dispute his claims. Yes, we all know that Hi-Lo overlooks some Ace-positive situations. Big deal. As pointed out in some of the responses here, JSTAT's system also erroneously identifies many deck compositions as favorable when they are not.

All counting systems involve approximations and errors. Hi-Lo has the benefit of ease of use and is strong enough for most purposes. In my personal play, I hate using side counts. That said, I don't use Hi-Lo either! I use the Halves count. Do I recommend Halves for new players? Nope. That honor goes to KO.

JSTAT's ban expires sometime in the next 6 days; I'm actually not sure when precisely. Upon his return, I have two requests for his continued participation here. 1) Don't repost the same articles over and over here, or mildly reworded versions of the same. 2) Be civil and nondisruptive on the boards and in the chat.

He got laughed off Wong's site. If we ignore him, rather than taking his bait, maybe he'll just go away.

Disgusting

I find his diatribe totally disgusting and offensive. Not only is he spreading misinformation that could be quite costly to those that don't know better, but now he's resorted to dragging Ken's name through the dirt. The whole thing is deplorable; the guy is outright poison.

Ken, I've gotta say, you're showing remarkable restraint and diplomacy in putting up with him.

Clarification

JSTAT was never banned for the reasons mentioned in the article, he was banned for continuously posting the same misleading info over and over again, and accusing many people of working for the casinos for defending Hi-Lo.
Anyway he was warned at least 20 times, and his ban was only a temporary one.

Pretty tasteless cheap shot in the last paragraph of his article too. :flame:

I am also disturbed by some of his statements and it appears as if he is burning his bridges.

However, I say he comes back on probation with a quick permanent ban if he steps over the line one more time.

I generally agree, but there are people here who have been taken in by his nonsense and don't know better. I feel it's our (tedious..) responsibility to keep that from happening.

Yes this is without a doubt the most disturbing aspect of the Jstat ordeal. We can all survive his ranting, as annoying as they are because we know better. I just feel bad for someone new to the game that comes to this site looking to increase his knowledge of blackjack and advantage play and comes across this nit wit shouting his nonsense.

Any nitwit who comes to this forum and chooses to take JSTAT to heart, while ignoring everyone else, deserves whatever happens to him.

This is true to some extent, shad, but there are so many knowledgable people on this board that take the time to try to explain things and answer questions from the new people, (and isn't that really one of the purposes of the board). I hate to see that goodwill ruined by some jackass, who is just out promoting his own agenda.
