I may be wrong but I think Booker was wondering about surly comments from your table-mates and/or personnel re: doubling your S18s.

Yes, Met, was just wondering about table comments. In my humble but most accurate opinion , S18 is the most misplayed hand in ploppy world.

Just recalling an event where dealer with 5, me with S18, double money out, +4, $400 bet and hand signal for hit, and the dealer flew right by me with the card. Up and out of the my seat and very vocal, questions from table, dealer and even PC about the play. Finally resolved in my favor, a deuce, but a. lot of discussion about the strong "18" hand and doubling.

BTW, not sure of the NJ rules but I believe they erred when they backed the card up and gave me the deuce. I know in PA the card would have been declared as dead, and I would have been given the option to remove the double wager.

I hit the soft 17 against a dealer 3 and caught the brick, leaving the dealer to make his hand. Lots of player noise for taking the dealer's bust card. I told them if I could predict the future I'd be a billionaire. That didn't get much of a listen, just, "For my money, I wouldn't have done that, but it's your money and you can bet it the way you want." One fellow asked me if I was playing "for the house," so convinced he was, I guess, of my always making the wrong moves. He later told me that he had gambled all his savings on blackjack, had maxed out his credit cards, taken a loan out on his house, paid off his credit cards, lost the rest of the loan, and maxed out his credit cards again. He claimed he had could get a $50,000 marker at any of the Trump or Harrah's casinos in AC. We were sitting at a $25 table and he said, "This is not the way I usually gamble. I'm just having some fun," or passing time or something to that effect. He didn't like how I played, my hitting soft 17's and 18's, but he double downed on every losing soft hand imaginable, including A/2 against a dealer ten (I guess he figured he couldn't get blamed for taking the dealer's bust card). Comical. Incredible. Sad. Nice fellow, too. Black,well-dressed, personable. But with an uncontrollable addiction to gambling.

I got down 80 units today ($25 min bets) and luckily had enough to work my way back in one shoe with my only long plus count of the day and 2x$200 bet each time. Made a swing of $2,000 during that count to save the day. Yipee!

I've had a few of those lately where, despite my best efforts, the cards just haven't been cooperating. Went from down 6 max bets to down 12 several times.
