really??? S17 as he stated, seems like a 6 in the hole would be better. :whip:

Agreed!
And if you have a neutral count and the dealer DID have a 7 in the hole, you knew this to be true...
Wouldn't it be preferable to take the push?

But no, this isn't a BAD play, as 18 is a somewhat weak total, and a 9 is a somewhat strong card for the player. You know the dealer doesn't have 21 and they only have a 19 or 20 right off the bat 1/6 of the time. I agree with flash, it looks extremely foolhardy. It is a great "act of desperation."

My question is, how much worse of an idea would this be if the dealer hits soft 17? Seems like this would make a big difference. Anyone got the index?
