Well you know it was bound to happen and it may. Big Don Trump wants a lawsuit against the ban as reported on the news. I don't think very much thought was put into the making of the law as usual. Public places where joe public goes and frequents I can understand but geeez give me a break. I tell the whiners and bitchers to go Canada to gamble if they don't like gambling in smokey enviroment. Why can't the law stipulate that a restaurant, casino or other facility be allowed to have smoking rooms for up to fifty percent (or lesser percentage) of their business as long as they completely isolate the smoke in these rooms from other patrons of their business?

Geeze oh man all this about smoking once again. I don't go to the whore house for a haircut and I don't go to the casino breathe fresh air. I don't go to the casino because the people there are really nice people. It is the type of place that attracts all sorts of people and alot with problems. If you were that concerned about isolation go to the high limit room and ask for a private non-smoking table they will be glad to accomodate you. I don't like drunken idiots who reek of booze and play like jerks. Guess what the place is full of them but, I'm not bitching about them. The upper level (main floor for table games and slots) has a few areas for nonsmoking; but, no ventilation and a few footsteps away from tables are the smoking section. If i recall, they do have another casino on the 25th or 26th floor; but it's high limits and probably smoke for them. I know that Mohegan has nonsmoking table games enclosed within some architectural structure with strong venting system and a hint of fragrance in the air in their casino of sky. Who knows; the CT governor and state are trying to pursue non-smoking at foxwoods and mohegan; but, the tribes seem adamant that the state has no right to tell them...

Poker rooms in general are non-smoking, I'm not aware of any that allow it. But high limit areas are smoking.

Non-smoking areas are a joke at Foxwoods, it's worse than any Las Vegas casino, even worse than the Sands used to be in terms of patron comfort and cleanliness. Whatever you do, don't ever put your hand under a chair at Foxwoods, there is chewing gum stuck under every one! Mohegan is a little better, in all respects (except for penetration.)

One interesting thing I saw at Foxwoods is that no chewing tobacco is allowed and they are very serious about it. I saw a guy take chew once and a suit and a bunch of security were right on him. The dealer told me they are worried about people marking cards with it. Is this the normal rule in a casino, no chew? How about nasal snuff?

Tell us what you really think. lol I guess I should also take up for one of the last bastions of sin and depravation. lol I hate certain pool rooms that are so heavy with smoke that you can't see across the room. They play havoc with my sinuses and my allergies do impact my pool game. On the other hand, smoke-filled rooms are synonymous with gambling and pool. If pool rooms did not attract some of the unsavory characters that they do, pool would lose a lot of its color. It's a games where you have the good guys and the bad guys, and sometimes the bad guys are really good guys and the good guys are whiny, arrogant, certified undesirables.

I'd be happy if casinos and poolrooms just maintained an environment somewhere between the extremes--somewhere between smoke-free, hospital-like environments and smoke-filled, filthy surroundings. Some casinos give me the heebie geebies (smoky and dirty) and others are very comfortable with some smoking tables and some smoke-free tables, and a decent level of cleanliness overall.

My Mom used to say, "Cleanliness is next to godliness." I have a sign in my bathroom that says, "Cleanliness is next to impossible." But the one thing she said that has always served me well was, "Everything in moderation."

I'm not a big fan of smoking but when the government tells the owner that he can't smoke in his own property, particuarly a place that does not allow children or anyone that does not voluntarily enter, it really pisses me off. The government is meant to protect us, not to rule us. It's a casino, not a post office or courthouse or someplace you're required to go. This sort of law by it's design can only create problems. There's obviously some reason the owners want to allow smoking or they would have banned it long ago, so this sort of law will only force them into a policy they didn't want to do, often for a very good reason.

Yes, I agree it's an infringement on the rights of smokers. But, to me that is more than balanced by protecting the rights of non-smokers, who are far the majority. If there were some way to really ventilate the area, I suppose that would work too. But we can't expect public officials to come up with good ideas...

Depends on the casino. Some have very good ventilation and enough separation between smoking and NS areas (eg., Borgata), however, you'll probably have to walk through smoking areas to get to the tables. Other casinos are poor. For example, Trump Plaza has no ventilation to speak of, and there can be a smoking table next to a non-smoking table.

not if the member can't have any exposure to smoke. as mentioned aboce, out of all of the casinos there, id peg borgata as best at splitting up smoking/non smoking. you can zig zag through slot machines there to make your way to non-smoking areas. that said, the hand-shuffled pit at the borgata IS smoking, so if you use anything beyond counting (ie shuffle tracking), i dont think you will find a smoke free area in AC to do this (at least not with very good ventillation). someone please correct me if i've overlooked anything.
