AC Exporting the Homeless

i probably know ur friend here in vegas if he plays at osheas or bills (cheapest games other than $2-4 fixed limit which is unbeatable). whats his first name? i assume hes playing for aces cracked in bills 50c $1 NL or osheas $2-6 spread limit. and gets his rooms with his harrahs diamond card?

Give you his name? :laugh: Why would I do that? First name starts with an R. how's that. he does get his rooms at harrah's properties. usually Harrah's, Bally's or IP. I am pretty sure he doesn't have a diamond card tho. I didn't even realize Oshea's was a harrah's property. I just know they have crappy BJ, and don't even check them very regularly. yeah i am in vegas, stay everyday free (or use comp dollars) at 4 queens, IP, or circus. been doing that for the last year. pretty sure his name must be rodney or ryan or rico, they all kind of fit that description. yes BJ at osheas sucks and i never play BJ there, only poker. all the BJ is 6-5 there and only 1 good BJ table at the IP next door. 3-2 payouts, surrender allowed, and cut card usually put 85% of the way into the deck. $10 or $15 minimum. and yes osheas is part of total rewards.

Maybe it would help to clear up this euphemism "homeless." When a city agency says that word, what they really mean is "bum," which is a word they're not allowed to use any more.

So you guys who spent a little time in a shelter, doing what you had to do to get into a better situation, I don't think they mean you. Hell I lived in a motel for 3 days between apartment leases, they don't mean me either. A bum is a person who lives at the expense of others and isn't making a good faith effort to change that. An active AP is by definition not a bum, because he is doing something with a positive expectation all the time.

Well I don't know where the line is. Someone living for a year off the casinos, with a room to sleep every night, whether comped or paid, like sevencard, isn't homeless. But someone who spends 3, 4 or even 5 nights a week sleeping in their car, or at the bus station, or riding the bus back and forth from AC to NYC or even from downtown to the strip (have you been on the deuce bus at 4am? looks like a shelter...) is on the homeless side of the line to me, even if he is playing positive expectation.

Maybe odor is the defining point. :laugh: When you can't bath and wash your cloths regularly, you are on the homeless side of the line.

All the homeless I know at least have the sense to use public restrooms to bathe and clean up. Sometimes for sleep and/or entertainment, they will save up for a movie show and go through several showings. Beats the doorways, bridges, sewers and tunnels. The question is, do you have positive EV when it cost you more to get there and stay there than you can win? If positive EV means advantage after necessary expenses, they're not even up to the point of incurring "necessary" expenses.

since AC NJ doesnt have $1 BJ games where a homeless guy with a $500 roll can sit and count cards with a $1 to $5 spread like he can at the poker palace in north las vegas, homeless guys who are AP's in AC arent AP's at BJ. (not unless they are doing the counting for the Big Player). they are APs at maybe $1-2 NL playing with a $900 roll split up into 15 segments of a $60 buyin. and even then thats a lot of risk playing poker with that little money. (the only reason i know so much about this is I remember 10-15 yrs ago when i was this broke and playing $1-3 stud daily at taj and trop) or i suppose they could sit and backcount a shoe and jump in with $5 min bets once their edge hits about 1%. u can have a $500-900 roll and still be homeless easy, i never ever wanted to spend money on rooms when that was my entire roll, id sleep outdoors (or at a shelter, or on the bus back and forth) if i couldnt get a free room and just play when i woke up. But yes a homeless guy can be an AP.

In AC, LV or any major venue you'd be better off chasing coupons and promos if you are that broke. You should be able to clear $100 a week, and if you are talking about a guy with a $500 BR that's big money.

And even better, as he is making his coupon run, he can stop at every human resources office on the route, without fail, without excuses, without 'But... but... but...' and fill out an application.

Riding the bus between AC and NYC is +EV when the value of the slot play is less than the price of a ticket.

Anyone who is decent at 1/2 NL could pretty much live in a hotel room from their winnings and comps.
