I don't understand why you don't recommend the hi-lo lite? I always assumed that the EV would be significantly different, say for example:

Zen $22/hr
Hi-lo $20/hr
Red 7 or KO $15/hr

Is this incorrect?

The comparative performances are different for different games... BUT quantified it might look more like this:

HO2 $23/hr (with perfect TC and Ace side-count)
Zen $21.5/hr
HiLoL $20/hr
Red 7 $19.5/hr
KO $19/hr

So if the practioner of HO2 is not perfect the performance of ZEN will result. Or ZEN or HLL making too many errors in the true-count adjustment, the performance of KO will result. zg

well i took zens advice and stoped with the opt2 i can do a deck count in about 45 sec with complete accuracy
20 seconds w/100% accuracy is considered good. Keep practicing. zg

i have blackbelt on order and wongs tourney strategy but can i get the break down of high lo lite from you. For bs isnt bs the best strategy for each play wether in the long run or the short term, i was reading somewhere else where it was said that bs is flawed for the short term game but from my understanding bs is the optimal play for any given hand and it was proven with millions of hands is this not correct

NOT FLAWED, just not accurate for any given moment in deck-depletion. ONLY card-counting can give you that extra deck-depletion-dependent accuracy. Withount counting BS is the ONLY correct way to play the hand. If I walk up to a table and I don't have the count, I use BS. "For my peace-of-mind" as some new poster recently said. There is NO alternative. zg

thats what i thought but this guy on another site who qualified himself as a mathetician said bs was flawed in the short run all i could think was he has one either no clue of the premise of bs or two an ajenda to mislead newbies to basic strategy.

thats another thing he did not have a new bs to post he was saying that a negative progression was the way to go in the short run. On another topic i have a lesson that i already read in this site but i need to express it again for anyone who did not read this before IF YOU ARE INTIMIDATED TO PLAY BASIC STRATEGY BY THE SIZE OF YOUR BET ITS TO BIG OF A BET FOR YOU heres what i mean tonight i was at the casino on a 5 and 100 table i went with a small bank roll of only sixty dollars because of the automatic shuffler and perfect bs play i was 4 units ahead after 3 hours with no counting. after the three hours i put in for sixty and floped thirteen against dealers eight, heres what i mean by its to big of a bet, and you guessed it i got scared of the bust i know should hit i hesitate then stick, im playing first base, next card to the player next to me a 3 the next card to the player beside him a 4 dealer beats me with a seventeen. lets just say i left after that..

Scorp,

You said that you lost count half way through the shoe. One tip I can recommend, apply slight pressure with your finger tips to help you remember the count. You don't have to actually move your fingers, just applying slight pressure will help you remember the count and it will go unnoticed by others. If the count is plus five, apply a little pressure with your fifth finger. If the count is minus three, apply pressure with your third finger. When you lose track of the count, refer to your fingers. Then you'll just have to remember if the count was plus or minus.

It probably sounds dumb, but it helps.

here ya go man

I acquired 2 stanford wong books off of amazon. Blackjack Secrets and Proffessional Blackjack. Blackjack secrets basically tells you how to avoid getting spotted and it also offers some generic basic strategy with some light details on single exposure as well as double. Proffessional Blackjack is a hardcore book, i consider it my BJ Bible. It has anything and everything you need to know about Blackjack, it even has tons of generated estimations on different rules of play. I DEFINATELY recommend Proffessional Blackjack by Stanford Wong. Right now, im actually gonna get Casino Verite Blackjack Count Analyzer as a software resource. I've done my research and it seems to be the most optimal choice of software. I'll probably earn enough on my next trip to the tables. I'd have it now but i work part time and im a full time college student, haha. So my bankroll is small :( hahaha. Most people tend to use the Hi Low system, i actually started with it but i've moved on to the Halves system. It requires using decimals but it holds a closer true value to the cards. theres even a new system the over/ under 13 system. its somewhere in between the hi low and halves. Its all covered in Proffesional blackjack. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The PROBLEM with Pro BJ is that its archaic in terms of having too many different index charts. Anyone learning HiLo should learn the HiLo Lite indices in Blackbelt. zg
