As to the original purpose of this thread, here is why you should never go to the Royal River Casino, which happens to be an Indian joint, in South Dakota:

However, It appears there is a problem with casinos honoring their large payouts. I witnessed a potential problem in Atlantic City. An elderly woman won about 50g on a nickel slot machine and the casino had an IGT? tech checking the machine.
My understanding is that large machine payouts trigger a ton of validation. She probably got paid just fine... after waiting a long time.

The Expected Value of Not Getting Paid

I am sure she got paid also, she was an older woman. However, there are now several stories on this site and others about casinos refusing their large payouts.

A poor analogy might be if one were to buy an expensive home and if it failed inspection your house would become worthless.:whip:

Another might be if you purchase an expensive car and the dealer just decides not to bring it to you.

The casinos are probably hurting their business.

An AP might have to weigh the risk of not getting paid:flame: or perhaps the value of a potential lawsuit.:joker:

I also think casinos also want to promote the big winner as much as possible. Having the woman standing there with a big $50,000 check and cameras flashing probably encourages others to play.

I saw a poor woman who had just won a $10,000 jackpot at a slot machine. At that point, there was a small crowd around her plus about 5 casino security. I walked by an hour later, the crowd was still there and there was a photographer. She was still having her picture taken two hours after her win with casino execs when I passed by again, and looked dead tired.
