backlining strategy?

Or better yet, go to firefox.com, download Firefox, and stop using Internet Explorer. Firefox allows you to stop websites from messing with your right-click menus (which they shouldn't do).

And-- your computer will be much happier when it doesn't get moonsmacked with viruses and spyware.

(And then go install the Adblock extension for even more "go away I don't want to see you" fun!)

to all those whom are interested in reading the article:

click on TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS

then go the the SECURITY thing at the top of the pop-up,
then go down and click on CUSTOM LEVEL

then scroll down untill you see SCRIPTING (it may be all the way at the bottom).

The in the little circles under SCRIPTING, change it from ENABLED to DISABLED. Then click OK, and answer YES or OK to anything else untill your back on the web page...

NOW CLICK ON THE LINK and VOILA! You can then copy paste the article on a texte file...

Make sure you re-enable the SCRIPTING after or else no web site will work properly...

There's a complete "Rider BS" in Wong's Basic Blackjack. This article also has a few pointers:

I haven't read the article but I thought alot of the gain from backlining involves collusion with the front better who makes non-bs plays with min bet while the backliner bets say 20 times the front bet.

Like I seem to recall the front guy would split 2,2 vs everything while the back guy betting big would only play them vs 4,5,6 or something. So the gain on those plays outweighs the rest.

Anyway congrats on ur moderator status Sonny.

Reducing the house edge by a third or a half without counting is pretty cool I think. Huge really when u think about it.

I have done the calculations my self with a program:

As front better:
Always split A’s 8’s 7’s 3’s and 2’s. Splits 4’s only against 5 and 6 as normal. Never split 10’s and 5’s as per normal. Always split 9’s except against a 7 as normal. This allows your back better to make the most of choosing what split hands to play.

If you are the back better (on your own hand or not) the optimal choices for splitting are:
Splits Aces: Play both hands always even against ace (unless you loose both bets to a dealer blackjack in games with no peek)
9’s: Play both hands again 8,6,5,4,3. Only play 1 hand against AT9 and 2.
8’s: Play both hands again 7,6,5,4. Play only 1 hand against the rest.
7’s: Play both hands against 654. Play only 1 hand against the rest.
3’s: Play both hands against 654. Play only 1 hand against the rest.
2’s: Play both hands against 654. Play only 1 hand against the rest.

You gain 0.2% as the back better over playing BS.
If the front better is playing BS and not splitting to help you, you only gain 0.1%.
