Please let me know how it works out.
I looked into Jet Blue into Scaramento or San Jose but they still run well over $150 Rt more than Vegas, plus you need a car.

Why is everyone ripping on Vegas?

I've got Wongs May BJ21 report and I was playing mostly at the MGM properties.
6D S17 Surrender etc. I find it easier (for me at least) to cover when playing 6D shoes rather than DD/SD.

The odds for shoe games on the Strip are much better than what I have in the Chicago area and the comps are waaaaay waaay better; I would state though that I am not a red-chipper.

Shad, I'm going there in a few days and have been looking at the various possibilites from the EC. From Balt. to Reno is $99 one way on SWA. Actually, flying into Sac. is probably better for East Coasters since there are more schedule availabilities and rental car/wk.(compact) runs $100-125. These fares also apply from PHL if you can get down there cheap. The drive from Sac. to Reno is only 2 hrs. and provides gorgeous scenery along the way. The time frame I looked up was from Aug.15-22. Hope this helps.
As the Monk was saying, you will need a car up there anyway if you want to venture out away from the "center of activity" which is the big 3..El Dorado, Circus and Silver Legacy (all are inter-connected). You can walk to Fitzgerald's, Harrah's and Cal-Neva, but if you are looking to exploit the real good SD games, you'll need to drive about 3 mi. to Sparks and 8 mi. to Boomtown. Bottom line-car=+EV.
I can tell you know your Reno. Make the 'REAL PROS' happy and find at least one flasher while you're there. zg

Yes Sir, right away Sir. I will put that on the top of my agenda and report back immediately. By the way, do you mean dealer card flashers or the chicks "hanging" out over the crap tables? I've seen both there.

Here are some options you could consider:
  • Take out a massive unsecured loan at prosper.com and risk ruining your credit if you happen to lose the borrowed money at the tables.
  • Try to find games with bigger edges than counting offers.
  • Team up with unsuspecting newbies to the blackjack scene and then rob them of their small 5k-10k bankrolls.
  • Look for slots or video poker machines with erroneously high payouts or that payout in the wrong denomination. Not so easy to find, of course, but when you do, you can get big EV with minimal RoR, compared to counting.
  • Play with maximum aggression (zero cover) at big houses like Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun for your paltry stakes action. You won't get noticed. Try to log about 100 hours a week doing this.

To get yourself into more trouble, you can also goto your local bank and apply for an unsecured loan "for personal use / vacation / spendings". This way you will have a nice bankroll, and you will be building credit with unsecured loans at ~12-20% interest. Additionally, you can use your credit card. Just swipe it at a casino ATM, enter an amount 5% less than your maximum cash advance limit, agree to pay the 3.5% ACM advance fee and your credit cards' cash advance 3% transaction fee, and you'll be ready to play with a nice bankroll at the casino! (just be-aware that you're now at -6.5%EV.)

I would agree with Pelerus first suggestion; to save money preferably for personal expenses, and maybe half of it to go to your blackjack gamings. As suggested by others, you definitely can have a small bankroll to begin playing, or backcounting and wongin in and out at good and bad counts. But, be aware, that there is still the chance of RoR and you lose your entire bankroll.

True. But they have reasonably good rules, allow mid-shoe entry and also comp table game players well. Trust me on this, I've been pounding on them for years.
It's probably not worth signing up for comp; Foxwoods doesnt comp table BJ players "well"; it's 18% p/hr x avgbet x hrs played = points. High rollers, on the other hand, get extra comp offers, such as free pair tickets to shows and reduced hotel rooms. But, yes, their rules are pretty good, with LS. Mohegan has similar rules; except some $25 tables have no-mid shoe entry.

From Islip, LGA, and Hartford. There is almost always going to be a stop on Southwest, but if you book a couple of months ahead it's generally $250 plus taxes.
Sounds good; but really depends when. Rates now are more like $360-470.
