I think that blackjack switch can be beaten. However, this is only a theory for the time being. It normaly offers better return than blackjack games with as low as a .10% advantage for the casino using proper basic strategy. I think this could be a new wave for the next few years until someone writes a book about it. Also, this is probalby the best game percentage wise for cover. Are there any programmers out there that can create a sim for this game and let people establish betting strategies to see if it will work? Again this is only theory.

It is beatable, folks are playing it. There are some posts in the blackjack variations section about it. In particular thsoe by Geoff Hall. I believe Snyder also covers it in the Big Book of Blackjack.

(1) Blackjack Switch can probably be beaten.

(2) The house edge for Blackjack Switch is lower than that of regular blackjack, if you play basic strategy.

(3) Basic strategy for Blackjack Switch is astoundingly complex.

(4) There's a thread on Blackjack Switch in the blackjack variations forum. I posted some of my findings there.

(5) Based on my sim, it seems unlikely that anyone can actually play basic strategy. Given 4-6 general rules, the edge can be lowered to about 1%, which is worse than blackjack. If you memorize the WoO's table, you can probably get this down to 0.5% or so.

(6) There are already books about it. The BBBJ has a chapter on it, and I've seen at least one other book in the bookstore (it was crap, though).

(7) It's probably a good game for counters to play just because I don't think it's watched very carefully.

the % edge is based on your total bet, which takes place over the entire course of your roll until you make your point/seven out, and you also can't be betting on random shooters.

Hmmm...that statement makes me wonder of how this is applied to line bets vs. place bets. With line bets (including Pass Line, Don't Pass, Come, Don't Come), you are correct: you are waiting for either the point to be hit or a 7-out. With place bets, hits can come repeatedly/frequently, so is house edge a per roll concept instead?

I know people say that you should only play 9/6 jacks or better video poker but my casino only has 8/5. What is the casinos advantage for 8/5 and 9/6 for that matter?

9/6 versus 8/5 Video Poker

The difference is in the long term return. 9/6 JoB played at perfect strategy yields 99.54%, while 8/5 JoB yields only 97.3% For a diversion play, I don't have a problem with playing that for small amounts of time.
