betting all 7 spots if allowed

New guy here. Nice forum

I read a book that related a story of a man who acted drunk and bought many hundreds of black chips. It was a single deck game. He bet wildly. He put one chip on first base, 2 on the next and so on and 7 on third base. He would order drinks and talk loudly. He would split his first, second or third base hand if possible vs anything, even dealer ten.

What he was doing, I guess was seeing the max cards on the one unit hands and then playing carefully on the bigger hands. He won many thousands and did not color up. On a bathroom trip, he left with his chips.

Is this just a story or could it have happened?

From the details you’ve given, it is either just a story or he was very lucky. This type of depth charging isn't very profitable, and the bad decisions made on the early hands would wipe out any advantage you would get on the later hands.

I've seen a guy at the Wynn play all spots on DD.

They wouldn't let him play by himself, so he had his friend sit down and he basically told his friend to play with his money with his instructions.

Eastern European / Russian something...

also lost like 35,000 in 1/2 hour.

I think its a legitimate form of depth-charging, though not the best form.
Its definatley a form of DP when you are limited to one-round of 1D. zg

The story is from Ian Anderson's Burning the Tables in Las Vegas, I think.

I haven't studied up much on depth charging, but I'd be worried about the advantage gained on the last, 7 unit hand, compared with the cost of the 25 units played on the other spots.

Just depends

What if you played Min on the first 5 hands, and perhaps the Max on the 6th and 7th hand's. That might give you an edge in a (-.19) or lower house edge game. Yes and no?

Don't most houses say two hands, double the minimum on each hand.

I can see some possibilities in it I guess. Especially if you get dealt 2 rounds. Or maybe even only sit at 3rd and see 2 or 3 hands to your right. Especially maybe with a very high playing-efficincy system. (Not hi-lo lol) But I know you have a couple of them crazy-high PE systems :).

Would one generally be dealt a 2nd round at a table of 7?

Hey Kasi, just woke up:yikes:

I think the question of the OP, was under the assumption on 1 round, ONLY.

Of course several factors would be Key, along with a high PE.(the highest you get without multi-params is .70) and Im not sure how you would calculate that towards your EV. Undeal ideal conditions, im sure you could a decent +EV. Flux would probably be pretty high tho.

Good morning to you too

What's shaking, hands, legs, eyelids? - I'm awake and you're still alive lmao. And here I thought there was nothing new under the sun but I hadn't considered snorting rat poison behind the toilet.

Hope your gf is coming around buddy!

So I just told my wife I'm golfing Sun and she pitifully said "You're golfing on our anniversary?" How the hell am I supposed to remember something like that anyway? Apparently "yes" wasn't the right answer - had a 50-50 chance of getting it right though lol.

Anyway, somewhere Don has a methodology of somehow apparently actually maybe figuring something like this out. Maybe anyway lol.

The General Consensus is like ya, most do. More or less its just a pipe dream.

1.Where you gonna find a good single deck?
2. Heads-up?

Good thought tho!

A more effective method,(or similiar) might be to double each hand. First hand5$ /7th hand320$...etc

Questional Posts..?

"I guess" - "Might be" - "I think"

No direction when inadequate information given and research prior to post incomplete.

what i have seen is on green chip min tables:

2 hands of 50 for 100 total

5 hand of 125 for 375 total

--

for black min, i generally see 2 hands at black = 200. no need to double to 2x200

Well, I just interpreted the original question as basically one of how the number of seen or unseen cards might effect the advantage gained by strategy departures. The twist here being, apparently (to me anyway), a bettor who is relying only on strategy departures with no counting system involved so all that I18 stuff is out the window.

Or maybe like that I18 stuff except with random bets bearing no relation to the count lol.

But, thanks for making me find what I was thinking about. Page 46-47 of BJAIII was the methodology, fwiw, I was thinking about anyway.

It sounded too good.

If this "system" works, then why not sit at third base on a full table and bet big? The problem I see is you do not know the true count until after you bet. For all I know as I see this type of play, the aces and tens may be gone and you are looking at a stiff with a big minus count.

This table could be seen at midnight or so when the drunks are playing stupidly. Stupid? I saw a man stand on a soft 15 vs dealers 7 once. Drunk for sure by his smell.

Kasi, I've watched you play. I'll introduce myself when I finish learning all I can handicapping you. In the mean time, enjoy your day and continued success.
