Casino Blames Income Drop On Gamblers' Luck

Gamblers played about $611 million at table games during the quarter, a 6.4 percent increase. The casino kept about 11.6 percent of that gambling money, nearly 5 percent less than it did during last year's quarter.

Table game revenues dropped more than 25 percent to $75.3 million in the third quarter from the year-ago period.
So on 611 Million they held 70.9 Million
last year 572 Million with 95 Million keep

Table Revs are listed 4.4 Million above keep.

speaking of csms man it's weird. the joints around me have done the ole switcheroo. the one joint that had virutually none now has every other table with csms. the other joint that had a slew of them has gone to none. :)
and the other joint has stayed the same with just a low percentage csm tables.
I wonder if they really care. Old-timers keep assuring us that the casinos are sensitive to the business they would lose by going to csms, but I'm not sure that's altogether true. Slowly, they seem to be cropping up everywhere. Casinos simply cannot stand the idea that someone, anyone, can beat them at their own game. They want the edge on everyone, and as bad as the games are getting everywhere, they pretty much have got it--but not quite--csms are one way to get it all.

Mohegan had CSM 4 deckers a few years back, and left them at $10 for long periods of time. The red light came on at 33 cards. Heads up was 6 hands: full table 2 rounds.

Thats actually fairly decent for CSM's based on postings elsewhere. I actually tried it a few times with A5 just for farts and giggles.

Actually, if I remember right, the reporter got it all messed up and the $611MM is a misprint - he meant $611MM last year's quarter and $650MM this year's quarter. Not that it matters. You have to read the actual release.

any proof? i don't think this is the case at all. and even if seasoned players were becoming better, the new ones entering the game are just as ill-informed as their predecessors, laying the house edge around 5+% or worse. as others have mentioned, other table games play a large part in their profit margins.

sometimes, the simplest answer, really is the right answer:
it's the economy.

edit:
is the reason Vegas and Reno are doing so poorly now too because everyone learned BS?
this is an industry wide problem. if M-Sun wants to use this as free advertising, i.e. "hey we aren't doing so well because we've had soooo many lucky players" then maybe they are outsmarting everyone - and their dumb act really isn't so dumb. i'm too dumb to know which is right.... but i'll guess they aren't idiots.
Wow, I almost missed this post. Then you would of thought I was tryin to ignore you.(some people do that, for self-esteem issues)

Your right, for I temporarily forgot how bad the Economy was right now. And if you know like I do, when the Economy is suffering, usually the first to go are the recreational activities. Which of course, I know, you know.

So if im understanding this correctly, "your sayin", "their drop" is down, due to "economical reasons" not from "lucky players" which is what "they're" tryin to say, for... "Advertising Purposes"

Is that what your sayin, theyre sayin?

Oh never mind, I think Im confusing myself:laugh:
