Casino Verite Basic Strategy

I am using casino verite and have put early surrender, 1Deck in the rules. If I look at the basic strategy chart at blackjackinfo it says to surrender 12-16 vs Ace and 14-16 vs 10. However, at casino verite the basic strategy chart says I should only surrender the 15,16. Any help to clear up this discrepancy?

Thank you very much in advance.

You must have Early Sr. checked on the Strategy Trainer.

Must as in you have, not that it needs to be.

I'm still confused. In casino verite, with early surrender enabled, if I surrender the 14 vs 10 (as it says to do in other basic strategy tables) it tells me that I should hit. If I look at the basic strategy table, the rules correspond to late surrender rather than early.

Haha, no casino obviously offers a 1 deck early surrender game. I'm just trying to figure it out for my own sake.

I don't know about CV but don't forget you'd also surrender the 17 vs Ace.

Also I think you'd surrender 5"s & 6's vs the Ace in either H17 or S17 but Ken's engine here has no hand lower than a 7 so I guess it just doesn't display.

Might be something for him to consider adding the 5 and 6 line.

Also, I thought you early surrender 8's vs Ace in an H17 game but his engine says hit. So, maybe I'm wrong on that. He may want to double check it to something.

I mean in one deck games lol.

As a last resort, if you really really are stumped about CVBJ just e-mail Norm.

Yeah, you'd surrender the 17 vs A also. I'm just not sure how to use CV very well. But it confuses me that it doesn't adapt the basic strategy to the current rules. For example, if you've set the Wong High-Low, then it tells you it's wrong to DD the 11 vs A, even in a single deck game.

It tells you to DD with an index of +1 or higher. The strategies are from the various books (with permission). If you are not using indexes, use the MASK to turn off all indexes. Then it will revert to Basic Strategy and it does adapt the BS to the rules.

I cannot find how to make CV tell me to surrender 14 vs 10 and all those hands that you should surrender in early surrender. It seems that the rules it has are for late surrender.

You are aware that early surrender is quite rare, right? At the moment I am unaware of any casino in the US that offers it.

Non-existent as it may be, lol, what would you think of, in the interest of completeness, maybe adding player totals of 5 & 6 since wouldn't you early surender them too vs Ace, maybe 10 too?

Does one early surrender an 8 total vs dealer Ace in H17?

While I'm here is your engine always assuming no re-splitting?

No big deal - just a possible suggestion. And a couple questions lol.

I assume the most common rule of resplitting to make up to 4 hands. However, as far as I know it doesn't matter. I am unaware of any decisions that are different when no resplitting is allowed.

For the other surrender decisions you mention I need to double check before answering.

I see what you mean. Even when I Define Edit strategies>Enter name>Use complete Basic strategy>tables>Check Early Sr.

It will, for some reason continue to show you the late Sr. chart:confused:

I don't have any ESr tables included in CV. You would need to make the changes to the tables.

I've had many discussions in the past about the strategy tables in CV. They are straight out of the various books. Of course, the tables in the books are not perfect - and only some books provide tables for all common rule variations. But, since most people grew up using the tables in the books, I wanted to make it easy for them to practice those tables. Anyone that wishes to add improvements can do so.

Many of the books do not carry Early Surrender tables. US books tend to be US-centric. Using Define/Edit Tables, you can create a user strategy based on one of the included strategies and make the desired changes.
