Closed and Erased Portions of Threads

It might be beneficial when a mod closes or erases portions of threads (such as in Walter Thomason Needs Feedback, that somewhere the offending posts are recorded so we each know who was responsible for the action taken. It would be helpful that each person knows what it was that crossed the line, and so help them to reform future posts to avoid locking or erasure.

I could be off in left field, but wasn't a great portion of Walter Thomason... erased? What caused it? Who caused it? If known, maybe some of us would confine our comments to what is Board Acceptable in future posts. Just a thought.

If you reread the initial post in that thread, it's clear the person responsible is none other than....................... zg!

I'm not that interested in who was responsible for that particular thread, but only a way we can see what caused the problem in the eyes of the mod. A lot of times, a bunch of us say things that could be enough to cross the line, and it would be good from my point of view to see whether I was one of the offending posters in the eyes of the mods. We don't always see ourselves as others see us. I would not be offended if the mod sent me a PM telling me it was for such and such a reason (my fault) that they felt forced to close it down. Persistent offenders could then be prepared to suffer the consequences, while well-meaning offenders will be able to amend there ways.

then i posted jokingly, :joker::whip:, " what do we need _____ for when we got this guy?" http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=20019
errhh so unwittingly i think i was offensive while really just trying to joke around, unfortunately i guess it was sort of at _____'s expense sorta thing.

Well, there you have it! Saint Sagefr0g is willing to take the blame for what he unwittingly or maybe only half so (pun intended--could not resist--forgive me Saint Sagefr0g for I have sinned ). Ya, you may have been a bit of an instigator, or maybe not. I mean, did you think it might go like it did? Anyway, this is exactly what I mean. If you were to ask Dad, I mean, er... Ken, what he thought, he would probably exonerate you 100%. It would be good to have a way to know who it was that really crossed the line in the mods opinion, since the line is not always very bright, and since we all enjoy (sorry, Ken) brushing up against it like youngsters I guess who are testing how far they can push the envelope without getting "what for." Maybe we should take pity on poor ole Ken who I'm sure has better things to do than constantly ruling on this and that misdemeanor in kid's court. Anyway, it was nice of you to take the blame--just don't think the mods would see it that way.

In this thread we have a bunch of guys in their 50s and 60s (presumably mature, in other words), who have been regular posters for many years, who have seen any number of posters temp-banned and perma-banned for reasons that have never been a mystery to anyone, and yet are unclear on what constitutes an inappropriate post. Really?

In this case - it was simple - it got way off topic.

I did want to commend you, Brother Aslan, for your time-reset- immortality-using stick-of-dynamite-in mouth theorem -- in fact there is that exact theorem from a scientist - it makes the Schrodinger Cat hypothesis more subject, since the cat is replaced by the observer-scientist himself. I commend you for hitting upon same in a Voodoo forum.

Not at all, it was simply a matter of being off-topic. Take this thread for example - everything that was off-topic in the removed thread is entirely on-topic in this thread.

That is, provided that we maintain some voodoo betting to it. zg

Ps - Where is Picasso, BJINFO's resident Artiste* of Progressions
"Blackjack is much more than the probable occurrance of a card or the predetermined size of the next wager. It is, in my opinion, an ART FORM, which requires the understanding, appreciation, and application of any and all "mediums" available to the artist."

Most of the "psychic gambling" voodoo threads of late have been removed. I have asked Ken to either restore some of them or otherwise copy and paste them to emails so that I can re-initiate them elsewhere, like twoplustwo, perhaps. zg

just me maybe Sonny, but i think you whacked a fairly legit response i made to aslan in this thread:
http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showpost.php?p=205311&postcount=106
and left others concerning the 'taboo' subject of religion, ect. , while my whacked response was imho actually grounded in some practicality with respect to advantage play.:whip:
but no big deal, if that's how you want it, ok by me.

That's true. I attacked that thread with a machete when a pair of shears may have been more appropriate (but more time consuming). I just deleted everything after the thread started to veer off topic. I have re-read your response and restored it. With the large amount of off-topic material lately I have not been able to give the legitimate posts enough attention. With any luck that will change soon. I would love to be able to focus more on posting and answering questions instead of deleting and cleaning up threads.

Just a thought -- sometimes a thread just naturally leads into an off-topic subject. It's too bad one cannot just click some kind of branching button to send it to a new thread in it's own right.

Maybe, the correct protocol, given the tools we have at hand, would be to copy the post (to which the off topic response is made) to a new thread and begin from there. I'll try to do that in the future. That would be appropriate I think, except for strictly political and religious posts, which are not allowed anywhere in the Forum.
