Lying to a spouse isn't a good thing, ever.

I'm totally honest with my husband, but he doesn't want to know the details. I tell him about where I'm at win/loss wise and he knows I haven't dipped into any of our money for a couple years now - I'm just playing on winnings. I figure as long as I keep it that way, we won't have any issues. It helped that the first time I won several hundred dollars, I gave him half. I won't make that mistake again! It disappeared as fast as he says I make HIS money disappear! :eyepatch:

P.S. I was raised in a religion that frowns on ANY card playing, including in the privacy of your home and including card games that don't include betting. For some reason, games like "Authors" and "Uno" were okay - I find this confusing.

I had never been to a casino and had no interest in gambling until I visited one about three years ago (at the age of 40). Now I'm fascinated by blackjack and want to play more. The closest casino to me is about 3 hours away and my wife doesn't know about my fascination, so I only play about twice a year so far.

My question: I've seen a few people on here talk about getting banned. I've only played at Harrah's so far. At what point will they ban someone? I've left every session ahead, so I hate the thought that I could get banned just for winning a lot.

My confession: I'm a Christian and belong to a rather "fundamentalist" denomination. They believe that gambling is sinful, but I've honestly never heard a good reason why. To me, it's just my entertainment dollars that I'm willing to blow. Anyone else in a similar position? Anyone else hiding it from your spouse?

Perhaps not the most fortunate of words. Eventually, she calmed down as I explained it was a married man who plays BJ and we, including his wife, met at a casino.

I still sort of regret I didn't tell her ahead of time what the heck I'd be doing becasue she always wonders what the heck I'm doing typing away here on the "internet" anyway - she thinks that plenty weird enough in the first place lol.

Whatever, I just want to die in peace with no secrets to tell my wife.

I completely broke down last week succumbing under the pressure I knew I had been parking for weeks at a parking meter that was broken and never would get to "0" and say "violation". This at a meter where 25 cents buys you 3 hours.

But, honestly, nonetheless, I have bigger secrets I may take to my grave. Stuff like maybe paying all taxes owed on gambling winnings. But my wife knows.

Whatever - your wife is like God. Tell her the truth. You just can't pretend you are someone you are not.

I don't view the IRS or US Gov't as I view God or my wife.

Examples--buying stocks that you researched, counting cards at blackjack, being a top poker player, handicapping horses or sports teams.

Not that you won't have financial ups and downs, but you know you have the advantage and should be ahead if you actually have an advantage and not just THINK you do.

Buying lottery tickets, playing slots, etc. is GAMBLING.

This is closer to what BigLoser should be concerning himself with. So easy to 'justify' our actions by finding a loophole in the bible or any other book.
St. Augustine said 'Love and do as you please' but unfortunately, we too often put the 'do as you please' ahead of the 'Love'. If we want to play the 'what would Christ do' game, here is my 2 cents...I think he would walk into that casino where BigLoser is, catch his attention between shoes, and ask him to go for a walk...I will leave the rest up to you.

The only thing that you have that has any REAL value, is your marriaqe, whether or not you are smart enough to know that.

Stop "taking your spouse for granted". Be 100% honest with her. You need to look into her eyes and apologize for being a jerk. Ask for her patient understanding.

She will grant it if she feels that you are being honest, unless you have a history of hiding stuff from her.

Tell her that you value your marriage more than your childish obsession with a card game, and that you are hoping to mature, with her loving help.

Perhaps you can forge an agreement that once a month you BOTH deserve a "night out". You at the casino, with a set bankroll; [You lose your cash and you come home], and she wherever she wants to go.

I was raised to never do drugs, gamble or put myself in a position to go to jail. Well, Im 2 out of 3.. Be honest with yourself and your family.

Ask any televangelist or Baptist minister... gambling is SINNING all the WAY!! (Of course the reasoning behind this is that if you are gambling, therefore likely losing money like 97% of all people that gamble, then that is less cash that you should be putting in God and Jesus' Swiss Bank Accounts and Cayman Island Bank Accounts, which are of course run and managed by the televangelist on behalf of God and Jesus.)

The only thing to do is to take all the cash you were going to gamble with and send it to your local religious whiz-bang and you can be assured that they will in turn forward this cash straight to heaven. Then admit to your wife that you are a filthy sinner.
