I had a poker dealer who would show the river and/or turn if everyone folds to someone who raises on the flop.
If it didn't happen frequently, I wouldn't say anything, but if the dealer did it every hand, I'd have a problem with that as a player, especially if I was the raiser. Poker is much different than BJ in that regard.alwayssplitaces said:I had a poker dealer who would show the river and/or turn if everyone folds to someone who raises on the flop.
Why would you have a problem with it? I assume you never showed. The cards could have been any cards. Encouraging chasers can be quite profitable. Do you like to bet your stack a lot so you dont want people to fold. Or do you think people who would call because they had to know would now fold and ask to see. Bingo. Thats the one that actually makes sense.LovinItAll said:If it didn't happen frequently, I wouldn't say anything, but if the dealer did it every hand, I'd have a problem with that as a player, especially if I was the raiser. Of course it can, but....Encouraging chasers can be quite profitable.
I don't think...I know, as I've seen it over and again. Some people are insatiably curious and will pay to see because they can't help themselves. If they can 'see for free', they're happy. Of course, these are also the people that I probably want in the game regardless. Saying something about not showing the cards can also make some people steam. It's a call I would make based on the individuals at the table, obv.Or do you think people who would call because they had to know would now fold and ask to see?
It's not so much a matter of betting my stack as it is making a bet that makes my opponent think hard and potentially make a mistake, you know?Do you like to bet your stack a lot so you dont want people to fold?

Don't get me wrong: I'm not going to ruin a juicy table by being a douche, and if I thought that saying something would change anything that was +EV, I wouldn't do it. The guys that beg to see all of the time are generally players that get on my nerves anyway, and I think I'm very easy going at the table.
