I would agree with this somewhat. There is nothing wrong with being happy or unhappy with how your play is going. No more so than having good days and bad days at work. I do not however get upset at losing income due to chance. That risk is understood and accepted before I play. It is not a surprise nor an out of the ordinary occurance to lose, and as such does not weigh too heavily on my emotion. Sure losing is not fun, but winning does not give me any real high either. Its all part of an understanding of how the game works and being truly honest with the math and your skill set that keeps the emotions from running rampant with huge peaks and valleys. Even if the bankroll might. Using bj as an income, I would find it odd for those successful at it that this is where they would get such emotional highs and lows. I have repeatedly stated that yes this is my income, but absolutely not where I get my kicks. I can see if you play for recreation mostly how it can be an emotionally charged event, after all that is what recreation is for.Automatic Monkey said:Absolutely correct. If you are treating this as an income, losing income due to chance is something you should be unhappy with, and "happy" and "unhappy" are within a standard deviation of each other in this game.
As long as the emotions do not affect your play, it is perfectly acceptable.
And I wholeheartedly agree that no player recreational or pro, should let there emotions dictate how you play the game. At least if you are claiming to know better anyway.
