Don't listen to any of that. $200 at a $10 or $20 minimum is not nearly enough. For a shoe game you'd be wanting to think at a $10 or $20 minimum you're talking more along the lines of a bankroll of $10000 and $20000, or you can play like you have that much money and replenish your bankroll on a regular basis.Krak3d said:Thanx ^^, that really helped me out.![]()
The goodness of your game is not solely determined by the house rules but also by your playing and betting strategy, which in turn depends on the casino, your act..., anyway to get an overall idea about the strength of your game you will need to plug in the values into a simulator and get the SCORE (Standardized Comparison Of Risk and Expectation) to compare different games.Krak3d said:I'm a rookie, and I want to know what defines a good game. I'm looking mainly for shoe games. How do I know if a table's offering good/bad games. Please elaborate the acronyms, I'm still not familiar with most of them.![]()

Penetration and Bankroll are the keys to success.
It is better to play a game with BAD rules and GREAT penetration
than to play a game with GREAT rules and BAD penetration.
That is the creed that Advantage BJ Players hold dear.
The reference to bankroll is the other canon of our faith.
BJ is a game that REQUIRES a massive bankroll;
without which you are all but certain to go broke fairly often.
Yes this is a beatable game. Would I play it if I were in Vegas... NO!!! There are much better games to be had.tribute said:My casino offers the following game:
6 decks
S17
DOA
DAS
RSA to four times
No Sur
75% pen
Is this a beatable game? Would YOU play it? Can a find this or better anywhere in LV?
I think it's far worse to encourage people to gamble at all, when they are decidedly NOT at an advantage. Losing a little slower or a little faster doesn't really matter much, if they're still losing. Why lose at all?shadroch said:Nonsense.
For a player just starting out, penetration is meaningless. In fact, you want to play at a table with the worse penetration possible. The only time a beginner is not at a disadvantage is when the cards are being shuffled.
Why do you people insist on giving advantage play advice to complete newcomers?
Telling someone they need $20,000 before they sit at a blackjack table is a bad joke.
Do you think it's okay to tell someone they only need $200 to sit down at a blackjack table to make money?shadroch said:Nonsense.

In terms of pen or in terms of number of decks, or both? I generally don't find great pen in DD games in Vegas, and usually run into H17, but I will play 6D with 75%, and I have gotten as much as 85% in unlikely places like Paris. Last time I was at Planet Hollywood, the DD pen had gone to roughly 50%. I complained to the pit, and they said that's what they tell us to do. I told him that I had read that you have to deal enough cards to give the good cards a chance to come out. He just shrugged his shoulders.Thunder said:Yes this is a beatable game. Are you looking for a game as a Counter or as a gambler?
In that case, Pen is pretty much the most important factor.Krak3d said:A counter![]()
