It could work if your BR was big enough, but a 1-4 spread is incredibly minuscule for a shoe game. The SCORE is only 12.24! (7/8D, 60 hands/hr)

$25: $12/hr, STD=$429/hr
$50: $23/hr, STD=$858/hr
$100: $46/hr, STD=$1717/hr

You'd do better with some back-counting or playing two hands, but 1-4 is far too small.

You've got to take your chances and spread at least 1-12.
