friends/family spouse support

Generally I rarely get too excited anymore about results of a session or week, positive or negative, but after a particularly good couple of weeks, I ended last night at an all time high. Upon sharing this with significant other, the following discussion occurred :

Sig other: If you have an advantage, shouldn't you be at a new high everytime you play? me: Doesn't work that way. Think rollercoaster or stock market. Ups and downs, with slightly upward motion in the long term (hopefully). I read somewhere you are only at all time high 1% of time.
Sig other: In that case you will probably lose next time so why not quit now?
me: uggg!

I think in the future I will keep my thoughts to myself. Wondering what kind of support other have?

it's a mixed bag.
my sig oth knows what i do and goes to the casino with me from time to time. though at times says its gambling. i don't think that is the case so much anymore, but for awhile it was.

it is a tricky situation, i don't talk to many people about it, because without a proper education about BJ they will just think i'm a degenerate gambler. for me beating BJ is personal, it's an investment, not everything we do needs to be shared with everyone.... this is sorta the policy i've adopted.

Separate your bankroll from your living expenses, and tell anyone who complains to sod off.

Edit: except your spouse. Then you might have to work out a compromise, but separating your bankroll will help with that discussion.

Family - you need their support, try to explain what is going on and be honest.

Friends - they don't need to know anything.

Typical responses from "Friends" if you tell them you have won money gambling:

"I won $100 dollars playing Blackjack."
"Yeah, but how much did you lose?"

"I am up $6000 so far this month."
"Can I borrow $500?"

"I've doubled my $10,000 bankroll in 6 months!"
"Since you don't really work for all that money, shouldn't you give some of it to charity?"

"I've won over 80K this year at blackjack."
"Yeah, but how much did you lose?"
