There is the interesting legal question of bribing in order to facilitate a legal act, which is a bit mind-bottling.
True, they are being paid to protect the casino's interests and it would violate basic morality (although some might dispute even that in the case of a casino); but still, they wouldn't be doing anything "illegal."
However, I would not ask my friends to jeopardize their jobs in any way, which might be the case if they "looked the other way" while I was playing. For example, if they were supposed to be closely watching and they were caught not doing so, it could get them fired. Or if they or I blabbed it to someone and it got back to the casino, they could get fired.
There are a lot of things that it would be interesting to know. It would be helpful to know that the casino does not closely watch players because they are too shorthanded, or that most of their time is in other areas, or that they couldn't spot a counter if their life depended on it, or that they don't always run films because the camera keeps breaking down, etc. I wouldn't even have to tell them that the reason I'm interested; that is, I could feign general interest in their jobs. If they knew that the info was going to be used against the casino, then they have violated the loyalty owing to an employer, and I personally would not want to be a party to that. Hmmm! Maybe I'm sounding a bit sanctimonious now. I wonder what I'd do if there was a chance to make some good money, doing nothing at all illegal (counting)? I wonder what any of us would do?
