Getting Lucky

Thanks for the kind words, CP. Feeling much better today and looking to play some solid, focused BJ this weekend. I'm already off to a great start as I just won a free burrito at Taco Bell...lol. How can that not be a good omen? :)

Your determinism is commendable, and nothing beats free taco bell burritos!

Hope things stay in your favor.

I should have stayed in bed today. Started coming down with a cold on Sunday, but still managed to win $450 that night. That put my BR up to around $1500. Got up this morning (Monday) and felt even worse, so I slept in and started playing at noon.

Got the first base spot on what I have determined to be the best table in town and went to work. But it was a slow and steady drain until I was down $500. Came back to -$100 and had hopes of getting back to even. Then we went back down again. End result is that my BR is now $650. I actually started with $400 when I drove out here, since I had put a c-note in reserve. But after 6 nights here in casino-land, I have covered all my expenses and cleared a whopping $250.

This was the longest I have sat at one table and I probably should have stuck with my hit and run tactics since it was working well. But this drawdown was bound to happen sooner or later and how I deal with it mentally will determine whether or not I have any chance to succeed at this. So I’m trying to think positively and work on my money management. But I still believe in myself and as long as there is hope and possibility, I will continue on. :)

On a positive note, if you just look at your blackjack play, you have increased your bankroll by over 50% (from $400 to $650 if I read your post correctly) AND have been able to cover all your expenses. Not necessarily a bad return on your investment, even though it was higher at one point.

This certainly isn’t Vegas and the ploppy’s play at times was cringe worthy. I got burned twice with big bets out when ‘players’ hit 13 against 4 and 12 against 6, respectively. Both times they took the bust card and I had to get up and leave.
Why did you have to get up and leave. Do you think that the ploppies bad play has anything at all to do with whether you win or lose? Do you think their bad play somehow changes the odds?
