Harrah's shameless promotion

Harrah's had a booth set up at the Philadelphia gay/lesbian festival today proclaiming themselves as the "gay-friendly casino". I suppose next week they will be at a different event, proclaiming themselves "the whatever-that event is-friendly casino".

I don't see anything wrong with promoting one's business to the non-nominally-heterosexual community (note: big, complex term is used for precision's sake (term basically means "people that do not call themselves straight")). They're just as much a market to be courted as any other demographic.

However, I do think that if anyone is actually convinced by this promo to go and gamble at Harrah's, they obviously are neophytes that need to do more research into getting good gambling conditions. Harrah's = evil ripoff merchants.

And no sexual preference (assuming said preference is practiced amongst consenting adults only) automatically makes someone deserve to be ripped off by a shitty casino.

When gay marraige was legal in Cali, Harrahs offered a package deal that included a suite at Paris with a comp limo ride to Rincon for the service.

Last month, MGM sent out emails promoting a gay event in Vegas stating
Two Queens beats a Straight. I think that was pretty offensive, all around.
Gay money spends just as well as any other money and in a depression, publicly held companies will do whatever it takes to bring in revenue.

I think discrimination against gays and lesbians sucks, too...but I still won't be giving any money to that friggin ripoff outfit Harrah's.

I'm sure they'll be looking for places that have really really good "BJ" tables. Especially ones that offer deep penetration!

It's ridiculous. The behavior is still considered disreputable by a majority of the population and the only reason Harrah's chose to associate themselves with it is because they figured they were in a venue where it wouldn't get out to the general public. If they really want to make a statement, let them put a billboard up on the AC Expressway that says "Harrah's- The Casino for Homosexuals" and then I'll believe they've really made a commitment to a position on this controversial social issue. In reality not only would they never do that, if someone else put a billboard up saying Harrah's was for homosexuals Harrah's would sue them for casting their business in a bad light, and Harrah's would win

Beyond that, I've played in all kinds of casinos and remain unaware of any that inquire as to your sexual preference before dealing to you. Do you really think they care who they take money from? AC is full of queers, they are in all of the casinos and it has never been an issue there.
