A monkey could do stage hypnosis because it is that simple due to prepping and prequalifying the participants. First the hypnotist asked for volunteers. He gets 20 or 30 people wanting to please him onstage and then he puts them through a bunch of suggestibility tests i.e. eye lock test, hands clasp test, arms rising and falling tests. Those who respond well will stay. First, they have volunteered. Secondly, they've responded well to suggestion. The end result is they are liable to do anything. If a hypnotist has to whisper for someone "pretend" or "stay down" or whatever, he did a poor job in choosing the participants.
