John Patrick basic strategy

John Patrick's book (on various casino games) are among the only ones that I have ever seen for sale in casino gift shops.

That is because the books are all filled with bad advice, certain to increase the casino's bottom line.

And yes, I have skimmed through his books and I know of what I speak.

The first book I ever bought was John Patrick, desperate to buy something to teach me something, anything.

(Not counting Thorp's Beat the Dealer in 1962, is that right?, that I swear I read and was fascinated with, I remember a paper-back copy. I remeber not being being able to wait another 9 yeras or so before I could use his system but figured why not get statred now. I remember how impossible it was for me to use his proposed system and gave up the notion. I think. But I have looked for years for that book and have never been able to find it. So, even today, I think I may have imagined it all after all.)

Took me a while to figure out just how bad his advice was, much longer than I care to admit, believing in the printed word and all and believing, as my first book, it MUST be right.

Maybe it turned out to be a blessing because, after eventually coming to believe his BS was 5 pounds of crap in a half-pound bag, I have never been able to 100% believe in almost anything I have read. Scarred for life, as it were lol.

After that fiasco, after making John Patrick my initial Bible as it happened, more or less lol, the only person, ever, going forward, I ever had to convince of doing anything before I actually did it, was me.

Thank you, John Patrick, for being such an idiot and forcing me to overcome your nonsense.

It wouldn't surprise me if he did have an agreement with the casino concessionaires: he writes bad gambling books and they sell them on the casino property.

Because otherwise, I don't believe the people who make the decisions about which books get sold in the casino and which don't are smart enough to know the difference between a good book and a bad one. It's something that would have to be decided on in advance.

A few decades ago, Patrick had TV show in Philadelphia on UHF. (Remember UHF?) It was sponsored by an AC casino and gave gambling advice. It was quite funny. He always wore a cheap sport coat and looked like he was trying to mimic something he saw in Playboy. People would call in and ask questions. Didn’t matter whether it was BJ, Roulette or Craps, his strategy was always the same. Raise your bet after a win twice, then pull back your profit and this will magically protect you winnings. Don’t raise your bet after a loss, and this will magically protect you from losses. How can you lose? Every week he said the same thing. Later, the casino gave you absolutely free Patrick videos that taught you how to lose. And who said casinos don’t have your welfare in mind?

The shame of it is that you will always find Patrick books in book stores. In the cooking section, do they purposely try to find books that have terrible recipes?

So Patrick cooked up a very bad recipe that made people not well... I wonder how many blackjack players are still feeling the effects of eating his stuff? At least Ion Saliu has a formula that invokes winning across all forms of gambling, including the nags and lotto...:angel: That is something Patrick apparently never achieved. I have a weird theory (#7): Patrick and Saliu are the same dude. Same as North Wind, Neutron Bomb, but not Licentia. (Hi Ion.) As bizarre as this theory sounds, I have read here many times that anyone can be anyone on websites such as this. But I swear by The Holy Ace of Spades that I am neither Saliu nor Patrick... I cannot vouch for JSTAT but. He will have to vouch for himself. I know he had a thing for Doug Grant. But that is another story.
