Of course there is something to it. Once you get past 50% of total cards dealt, KO starts to slowly but surely overstate your advantage. Just like misses some opportunities for profit early in the shoe. Take a look at the spreadsheet for converting to TC and you will see this is clear.

I remember looking at that TC conversion file and saying to myself, "I get the gist, but don't really want to hassle with converting and memorizing more things at the table." That has stuck in the back of my mind over the last few months when I play and has led me to be a little more gunshy towards the last couple hands in a shoe...just like Aslan said, dialing back those bets when the count says go for the gusto.
