KO Preferred ?

On pg 85 of KO BJ, there's a chart for the KO preferred plays.

I have a question about 8 with the arrow down beside it. Does that mean you are supposed to double down on 8 or below with a dealer 5/6 showing when the count reaches the pivot? Or only 8. The arrow throws me off.

Look at the bottom of the page. There are footnotes. Basically, on 8 with a +4 count, you double down against dealer 5 or 6, otherwise you just hit.
