Perhaps they changed the rules since I was there last. I know it used to be no DAS. I know it's not exactly proof, but I'm going to Vegas in December. I will check the rules when I'm there and post them here.

No need to check. All Harrahs are the same no DAS for 2 deck games period.
No assumed AP or card counter would play at a Harrahs unless they were hole carding or had something else going.

3rd base and funny hand movements

Aslan, try playing the "shortstop" position (i.e right of third base) on pitch games. You get all the benefits of 3rd base while still being able to read the hole cards of both players next to you--a luxury you don't have playing 3rd, also less likelihood of heat.
Playing pitch at third base I sometimes encounter a dealer who when picking up the cards of a player at first base will obscure my view of those cards. It is the movement they use where their arms and hands can get in my view. Just another factor about third base.

How much does no DAS destroy one's advantage? Is it impossible to beat in the long term?

Are you the rules police or something? Are you here to prove someone is lying because you know all the rules for every blackjack game in America?

if i ever played 2 deck (only 2 deck by me is ~.8% house edge), i would tell everybody to lay their card down on the table so we can all see each others cards and count.. in fact i should do that since i dont play at this casino anymore, and i should argue with the pb that the players can do as they wish with their cards, and that the rules for this game are TERRIBLE, so im just trying to lower the house edge by counting..

I noticed that the Vegas casinos are inconsistent on this point, some deal face down and some deal face up.

i heard harrahs is horrible, but on the flip side, i have been told (which i still dont believe) that the harrahs in joliet, illinois has a -.36% 6 deck game (has either rsa or late surrender), but i think he said they cover the discard

in a 2 deck game, -.15%, which is large, but if the game is s17, then its still a good game at -.39%.. put another way, its better to have s17 no das than h17 das

This is true. I have played there.

six decks, doa, das, rsa, no surrender.
Penetration is not too good though. Anywhere from a deck and a half to two decks depending on the dealer.

But yes, both the shoe and discard tray are covered, making it hard to know how many decks are left.

so then would a 6 deck -.43% game be better (than the -.36% game) cuz they dont cover the discard or shoe? it would be extremely difficult to measure this, as its relative to each persons skill, but overall, could covering the discard/shoe add over .07%? the thing is, i live 25 minutes from joliet, and 60 minutes from gary.. it would be great if there was a casino in illinois with 6 decks, under .5%, that allowed wonging and didnt cover the discard.. perhaps switching to an unbalanced count and going to this casino would be best? or should i stick with the casino thats an hour away from me with hi-lo?

This is one case where the laziness of using an unbalanced count really pays off.

What's most annoying is places that have opaque discard trays, cover the shoe, and don't reshuffle at an empty table.

the casino i go to now, uses the standard L discard tray, which is tinted red, but then they put this 4 sided box over it, which is also tinted red, so the back 2 sides of the discard tray are double tinted, and the front is tinted only once, since the L inside is open, but there is about a 1 inch slit at the top of this cover where he slides the cards in, its really weird.. it almost appears as if this is a quick fix to obscure your view, but you are still able to see how many cards are in there, it probably affects your judgement by less than 6 cards, so i dont see what the point is.. i dont see why they dont just cover all discard trays

I played at such a casino once. I asked the dealer about it. She said the red tint helps the casino see if the cards have been marked. I would think that the L shaped red tinted discard tray would be enough for that, but oh well.

Double Deck for $5

Hard Rock in Biloxi has DD pitch for $5 min on weekdays (day time).
Bj pays 3:2 and all the good rules. Read the layout and the rules plaque when you get to the table. Just across the same pit is the same game with the same rules with 6:5!
