Low Minimums Vs. Bad Penetration

I am fairly new to the world of counting and I have an awful bankroll. Is it worth it to play at Mohegan because they now have 5 dollar games.
I realize that Foxwoods has better penetration but the lowest minimum I'll ever get there is 10.

You won't be making much money with a small bankroll anyway ($5-$10/hr tops), so play where you enjoy it more.

From a financial perspective, it's better to work a little more and build up your bankroll, at least until your hourly EV is a good bit higher than what a job would provide.

Yeah, it's hard to feel like you're using your time wisely when you dedicate $10,000 to winning $10 an hour! But it's also relative--that is, if you have $100,000 bankroll dedicated to blackjack alone, you will not feel like you are doing much to be winning $100 an hour with such a large sum behind you. With that much backing, you will probably feel bored. haha You can't win. :laugh: Therefore, it is imperative that you just love to play blackjack. For example, I love meeting people at the BJ tables from all over the world who come to Vegas or AC to gamble. I also love the intrigue of beating the house and escaping notice. Immature, maybe, but fun just the same.

Makes for some nice, low cost vacations, doesn't it? The wives go shopping at all the outlets, if they go at all, and we go to the tables for a fun time of "beat the house," meeting people, and earning free food, clothing, and hotel rooms. I got a really nice DVD player recorder last year, as well. If it ever becomes a "job," I'm outta here! lol

Some people only calculate the per hour rate on actual money won. If you enjoy all the comps you need to take that into account. When I go and play I get food and my room comp'ed. So even if I break even on a weekend trip, I got free food, shows and a room out of it.

Technically, if you broke even at the tables and got "free" RFB, based on your quote, "If you enjoy all the comps you need to take that into account," you have a +ev trip which you should calculate into your w/hr. If you lost at the tables and offset the loses evenly with the comp value then it's break even, but I look at is a loss in my records.

Comps are nice, but you really need to earn cash too. Sooner or later you will hit the session from hell, and you will need to have built up your cash reserves to absorb it.

Besides, they can (and will) take your comps away anytime they want to. Your cash is yours to keep.

No fear of that. I spend them as fast as I can. But, yes, I agree. It is good to build up your br. I am a little worried because I spent the last $1,300 I made in AC, and will be a little on the short side my next trip. :sad::whip::laugh:
