I heard a rumor that they were about to take down the Fountainebleau, a 68 floor complex just north of the Riviera. The inside of the last fifteen floors never were completed when construction was halted due to the economic downturn and the inability to obtain financing. The rumor is that the owner, Carl Icahn, will take it down to the ground and sell it off for scrap. The land itself is allegedly pricier than the building. The total property including land cost about $3 billion to build. Currently, Venetian is rumored to be buying the furniture and shipping it to their Sands Bethlehem casino in Pennsylvania.

I researched it and found that Icahn announced in August that he planned to sit on the building until the economy improves. Personally, I think that is really what is going on, and any sale of furniture was possibly because by the time the FB opens, it will be out of style. Also, it may represent only the last 15 floors of furniture, which could probably furnish the entire Sands Bethlehem casino 300-room motel. The FB will be a 3,815 room hotel.

There was also a rumor that they might open the FB without access to the top 15 unfinished floors. Allegedly, they were talking about installing safety equipment (sprinkler system?) in the top 15 floors. I was unable to confirm that any such plan is under way.
The Harmon Tower (part of city center), which was suppossed to be residences, is going to be demolished having never opened. Now you say the same of FountaineBleau, which I have suspected for a while, and I truely believe a similar fate awaits Revel in AC. What a waste. :(

Harmon Tower is being taken down because the building is structurally unsound. That's a mega lawsuit.
