I'm playing a shoe game at a good count, near the end of a shoe and my chip stack catches the PC's eye. Shoe ends, next one starts and the count goes negative. One other player is at the table (elderly Asian lady.) I fake a phone call and tell the dealer to continue without me and I'll jump back in shortly. PC steps in and tells the dealer to wait for me!

Thats a very savy and EVIL tactic, in response however i would have countered it with an almost as evil rub it in his face tactic pretending to be on the phone with my gf and say

"what you won how much? omg i just won a boatload of money playing blackjack! this is the best night ever!"

just to lap him in the face for trying to make you lose, then said you had to run to go meet here cause your going to dinner, and maybe asked for a comp for dinner from him to top it off.

Interesting, I'm trying to imagine benign ways for that:

- It's a no mid-shoe reentry game, and she wanted to make sure you didn't lose your spot.
- Other player got upset
- To show deference to your whale like bets
- To not disrupt the flow of the cards.

None are particularly convincing.

But, to be honest, If I was a floorman and wanted to jack with a counter, I would do it in much more devastating ways.

I would have gotten in a fight with whoever was on the phone and stormed off.

Next time turn the tables on them and make them wait an hour. Stay on the phone and every minute just say "Yes dear" Imagine how pissed the other ploppies at the table will get and the house will lose money with the table not getting any action.

I thought of dragging it out, but:
1. I was getting ready to leave anyway
2. The old lady at the table was very quiet and wouldn't have said anything. I didn't want to ruin her fun (she was the only other player)

BTW, it was a midshoe entry game, so I could have come back in at any time.

I told the dealer to go ahead without me. Some of them do count. I know of at least one at Borgata and one at Showboat.
