Hey Guys, do you think this method will have any effect of concealing your card counting techniques.

You get your spotters on tables and they start to count. Meanwhile you play roulette and crap, betting the very minimum.. maybe even winning some. Then when a spotter gets a good count, they signal you over and you state to the dealer that you are totally new to this game, and could they help you with the rules. You take long times to make decisions, but still follow BS.

You can still play roulette and craps, losing the minimum, but you play blackjack more and more, saying it's your favourite. This way you can bet more and more.

What do you all think? Anyway to improve this?

I think betting the minimum at craps and then betting larg enough to win while playing blackjack would have the oposite effect of making you look like a non counter, i think it has team play written all over it, i would just wander the casino and talk to people and read signs and stuff as i slowly wander my way toward the tables,it might go like this,

see if anybody is calling you to a table no: read a sign, ask a employee about the details and engage in conversation untill your called, or repeat if necessary.

i say just bring up counting saying how you saw it in a movie. just say really stupid things like if a player hit their 17 and get a 21 say THEY MUST BE COUNTING THATS AMAZING!!!! then start trying to count very poorly in the middle of the shoe with a very concentrated look on your face and ask the dealer to slow down even if they are dealing slowly and lose count after 1 hand. of course have your bs card and every time you make a diviation just look at it after the hand and complain about making the wrong move and how hard it is to remember. keep guessing what the dealer has for their hole card to.

now how could you possibly think someone acting like this would be counting? :grin:

I think everyone is getting carried away here with thinking you have to pull off some type of oscar winning acting job to play this game. As a matter of fact I have always suscribed to the less is more theory. Team play as described in this thread is in itself all the cover needed. If you are the one being called in just keep yourself somewhat preoccupied while waiting for the call in ,and when called in, do your job and leave. If someone wants to talk to you, then talk, but don't feel the need to if the situation doesn't arise. Its funny, but so many people trying to be sly are usually just the opposite. My only advice would be keep the sessions short enough that you don't keep hopping on and off the same tables time after time making a lasting impression. Casinos have different degrees of heat so what you can get away with will have to be determined. But if you're not sure, play short sessions and come back after shift changes when new personnel are working that have not seen you before.

i think you have a good point about it might look so obvious.
i once watched a counter who would every so often wong out and 'talk' on his cell phone. it was so obvious (at least to me) what he was up to that it was pathetic lol.

right on. best advice on cover that i've heard was by i think it was John May on his site where he talked about making it a natural thing. i believe thats key. no really act so much as being natural and normal but just let that all work together so as to shroud what your up to. lol

Don't really like the idea of playing craps or roulette to kill time. What happens when the count gets hot and the spotter signals to the big player but the shooter is still rolling? He can't just abandon his chips there at the table. I bet a lot of good counts will evaporate, either on their own or through the cut card, because of that time lost.

I agree with Guy, you could get absorped in playing your roulette game and miss important signals. Craps and roulette are good for cooling off and socialising.. just dont bet too much
