Curious...........are there cases, "when" your allowed to double, when you split Aces; you recieve a initial card FIRST before given the option to double?????
Yes; the Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie; Michigan allows this. You're not allowed to HIT but you're allowed to double. One of the locals pointed this out to me. I had a $100 bet and split aces vs. the dealers' 10. I got a 10 & a deuce,
and this gentleman sitting next to me informed me that I was allowed to double on that A2. Well; I was obviously STILL hesitant to do so until he suggested that I double for LESS. So I doubled for exactly $1, in effect buying a 2nd card for almost nothing. (I got a 10 & lost anyway, but that's beside the point. :))

Excellent tip! Just curious, would there be any difference in HA, between the two differences when doubling on split aces? It seems to me, doubling before you recieve a card, would be better, but then again if you have to take a card first and hook a ten, that may trump.

well, in the three casinos I visited I found these rules:

Dealer Stands on Soft 17 (only in one Dealer Hits Soft 17)

Double Any 2 Cards

Double After Split Allowed

Split to 4 hands (I have to double check this one)

Early Surrender

AA can be split once, one card only (only in one u can double down on the lone ace)

No peek (European style), they give themselves only one card anyway.

As I said these are proper casinos: 5/10 tables +100+ slots, not joints in some back room. I was staring at the shoe while the dealer was pulling his cards tody and I noticed nothing strange. I know u are supposed to hear a "click" if they are pulling a card from another compartment, but on some tables they use shufflers anyway.
Please keep me posted on your progress and any updates or changes, that may come along.
