Pros and Cons of Team Play

When I last played with a team we used the BP as in the movies. However, this might be "used to be," if you're talking about post-21 vs. pre-21. It was the year before and the year after BDTH was published.
Nearly all the tables with limits high enough to justify that kind of play are NMS.

Well, it depends on what you mean by "justify". We were quite happy to win what we did, and we had an absolute blast doing it. It was a significant amount of money for us at the time, but insignificant to us now. It was well-justified from our perspective. We did everything on $5 or $10 tables, and there were no NMS restrictions anywhere we played (Las Vegas Strip).

I've also never seen NMS restrictions on the $25 tables on the Strip, either, but maybe that would change if someone started betting yellow. We never tried it.

You are correct about being able to do this just about anywhere on the strip, including the $25 tables. If played correctly it doesn't matter if you're betting purples, or even yellows.

Addressed to Monkey, it is a fallacy to think you need to bet thousands of dollars per hand to make the BP style worthwhile. You can play outrageous spreads based on how your spotters are used, as well as playing multiple hands. Not that I prefer lower max tables such as $500 ones, but even those can work if played right. But there are plenty of games out there with higher maxes that handle large money well that make this a still very effective practice. Your backyard casino is a perfect example.

It's funny to think of all the time we spent wetting our pants thinking the casinos were going to freak out over us winning a $1,000 chip!

The first night of our first team counting trip, our BP won "big" at the Bellagio, earning our first ever yellow chip. We had generally been flat-betting $3-$5 or spreading $5-$20 individually prior to that trip, so this was an enormous win in our minds. We decided not to play there for the rest of the trip because it was obvious that the Bellagio was going to hunt us down and shoot us for bringing the casino to its knees.

We all gathered at our super-secret meeting place by the walkway to CP (because it was inconceivable that the Bellagio might have cameras in the mall) and passed the yellow chip around so we could all touch it.

Those were fun times ...

That casino is an exception because of a very useful and uncommon rule variation, and anyone who has played with me there knows which one I mean. Some very advanced players have recognized me and done it without even communicating with me.
