I find it interesting that a search engine would more or less put I would call a filter on searches. I didn't notice the change but wish that stupid bing would do a similar change, anyways. If you are a nerdish type stay that way it's great cover and don't let them sweat you if you start kicking their arses.

Welcome!

As a fairly new player I find it very useful to sit somewhere in the middle of the table. Where I play there are a lot of people that like someone on 3rd base that "plays for the table." When you make indicie plays or some soft double it is usually overlooked pretty quick when there is action after you, and the closer to first base the less "you shouldn't have done that" seems to come out of peoples mouth when the dealer busts.

It also helps because you won't get the pit boss standing behind/next to you (if hes looking at your table or the one next you you), which when I first started playing I felt was a little uncomfortable.

I hope you realize that either of the next 2 cards are just as likely to bust the dealer. Start pointing out all the times your hitting saves the table and demand a thank you from those who give you a hard time when you "take the dealers bust card". There are so many ways to have fun with these guys. I always thank the guy at third base for a smart move when he takes the dealer "make" card and encourage them to do it again next time. Maybe Im easily amused but I get a kick out of messing with the obnoxious players. They deserve it.:laugh:;)

You better relax and you better toughen up or the ploppies will eat your lunch. Pissed off is a mild term if you sit at a table making index plays when others are worried about the flow of cards. Stand in front of a mirror and yell at yourself and curse and go crazy call yourself names, insult your birthright. By and by you will a develop a callous mindset and not give a crap what people say or think then my friend you have entered into phase one. Welcome!
as I experienced some extreme ploppy anger this last weekend. I just kept quite and the ploppy finally pushed his chair down and left.

Thank you for this advice! I'm a newbie and have only 100 hours of card counting play under my belt. I've gotten used to the roller coaster rides my bank roll is taking and I'm always friendly to everyone when I play even when I lose. But my feelings get hurt when people get so angry at me for not hitting 16s or spreading to two hands on high counts and then going back to one hand. I wish more people would read books on card counting even if they don't do it so they understand. Today, two people got mad and left the table when I spread two hands on +8 TC and we all lost. One called me "a retard" and another said I play "crazy". The dealer told me to ignore them but it really upsets me that people just don't get it. My play has no impact on whether they win or lose. It doesn't make any sense to me that people get so mad. They kept staring at me from the other table giving me the evil eye. Of course, I proceeded to lose $700 in 7 minutes (playing correctly the whole time). So my fans had even more reason to jeer at me. The whole experience was awful. But now I see from your post it's all part of the business and next time I'll shrug it off. They are pissed off because they are long term losers and need someone to blame whereas I might lose today but I'll win in the long run -- after 100 hours of play and placing $400K of bets I'm still up. I'll bet they can't say the same.

Correction, your play does affect the outcome of other players. You just don't know before hand if it will help, hurt, or have no effect beforehand.

The only play that affects the performance of your table mates is wonging and spreading to multiple hands. You simply get a better portion of the shoe in positive counts, leaving a higher portion of negative counts for all others.
