<rant>Personally I would find it kinda unethical to be paid to do a job and then only do the parts of that job I felt like doing. Obviously it is not in your best interest (or most likely the best interest of the entire AP community) to put strong promos or games in CBJN. If you are only getting paid 5-10 bucks and find a promo that is worth 5 figures it makes perfect sense why you wouldn't include it but ethically I think its wrong. This is one of the reasons I've never been a paid CBJN reporter. There have been other strong promos listed before and I've even questioned Al about why an AP would report it or even why Al would list it. Basically he said something along the lines of they are being paid to perform a duty and they do what they are supposed to.

All that being said you are doing the right thing by not putting strong games in CBJN and playing them yourself </rant>

You have to read CBJN with a grain of salt. I went to Vegas in August and immediately purchased the August CBJN. I found a lot of the information about pen to be wrong, but it could be dealer dependent. I went in and scoured to find games that I read about but such tables do not exist.

That being said, I think it is a very valuable publication that I will continue to use

There are always pros and cons

It's totally acceptable that juicy promos need not to be listed on cbjn. But it should be clearly printed on CBJN so that buyer is aware of that.
There are numerous occasions where I trusted CBJN blindly and skipped some of the juicy games on my way. I'm not pointing to Seattle region, I've seen this in other regions.

Overall, it is a source of valuable information listing all casino hours, table min,max and rules which are mostly accurate and I am willing to pay price for these gaming conditions...

I've two suggestions to make:
1) Add a disclaimer - "Juicy games may not be reported".
2) Add month of reporting for every casino instead of every area.
3) In case you are hiding the new changes for a specific casino, DON'T UPDATE the month of reporting. Let the stale information stay on MARKED as stale.. (this will not stop buyer for doing self-exploration and will not invite out of state APs)

Excellent points, and I want to clarify that I will not accept payment for reporting inaccurate or incomplete information. If a certain casino has a blackjack game/promo which is "too good" for publication, I will exclude the entire casino from my report. Reporters are paid per casino, and therefore, I receive no payment if I choose to not report on a certain casino.

A better place to suggest these changes is on the CBJN message boards on bj21.com.

I recall that there was discussion of adding the "last updated month" on a per casino basis, and I don't remember all the reasons they decided not to include this information. As a reporter, I personally prefer things the way they are. There are places I only visit once every 3-4 months (they always have lousy games, I've been backed off there recently, etc.), and I don't necessarily want the month I made my last visit to be public knowledge. This cannot be avoided for small regions which only have one or two casinos, but this is not as much of a concern since I'm not necessarily given credit for reporting on these smaller areas. For a large region like Seattle which has dozens of listings, it's to my benefit if the casinos cannot tell when I last visited each individual location.
