Not only that, it's an average, and one has to take into account the losing streaks where the income is negative. It does not always cooperate and come after the winning streaks either, which compounds the problem when one os looking for reliable income. Long term is key to planning.
Flash probably assumes he is playing a strong counting system. I don't know what you use but his numbers look right to me. Just avoid lousy rules and pen and you are good to go.

Regardless of how good your counting system is, if your weekly EV = your weekly expenses, you will eventually bust out. There will come a downswing eventually that consumes your bankroll. I would think it would be more appropriate to aim for CE = expenses (plus something extra to grow the emergency fund and the bankroll). In general, I'd say your EV would probably need to equal at least double your expenses, however if you are betting very conservatively with respect to your bankroll, you can get by with less EV. I don't know his expenses at all, but KJ comes to mind here. He is betting relatively small compared to his bankroll, so even if he does have an extended downswing, it shouldn't jeopardize his lifestyle and he won't have to reduce his bets to match a reduced bankroll. This last part is crucial since the expenses don't decrease just because your bankroll and bets do.

Most certainly be done, some of us might do it all the time ;) You almost have to if your playing at isolated casino.

Another thing that greatly helps lengthen your stay is if you know other forms of AP besides CC.

I'm not going to drive an hour to the next casino after wonging out at a -1 TC.

Thank you all for all your encouragement and advice!!!!
I have had some time away to collect my thoughts.
I will not compound this situation by putting myself further into a bad situation. I will assess the games I play carefully and make sure I am playing a winning game!

Thaks again to all of you!
Best of variance my friends!

I know you really don't need advice, but a winning game is not necessarily a winning day, a winning week or even a winning month. I have serious concerns about using blackjack to provide an increment of missing income since bj winnings are irregular at best and cannot be counted on in any specific time frame. A full time pro has it better as he can get to the long run much faster than a part timer. Personally, I would be looking for a full time job, or an extra job, and then I might supplement that by playing bj on weekends.

Which reinforces my opinion that you don't need advice. You're your own best counselor. But there is wisdom in many counsels, so they say, so you asked for advice anyway. I am sure you will have no trouble making it. You're one of those people that employers are always looking for.

Thanks Aslan!

Even before I received this news, I was using the services of a professional resume writer and branding team to put together a new resume. I could see the writing on the wall months ago. I have a bit of experiance under my belt know that I needed a little help articulating it down on paper!

I was able to take some of my blackjack winnings and buy this sweet new laptop to use in my search! I thought that was cool.

I am sure you will find work, If you have the work ethic of the older generation (40+) you are a prize compared to most of the kids joining the work force. My wife and a good friend each lost their jobs within a year of today. My wife found a lob in about a week. She had offers coming in from people she had no contact with. My friend found a job without really being totally out of work as he was hired as a long term contractor and moonlighted the whole time. His new job is much closer to his house. The jobs are out there.
