Shutting up the ploppy

I had a bad experience my first time playing BJ in Vegas. I was a ploppy, who didn't know BS at all. I sat down at a $5 table and played for a while. Later, a group of 3 ladies join the table. A Las Vegas native, and two friends from out of town. She was there to teach them how to play. She was betting green chips, while her friends were betting red chips. So far, so good.

The Las Vegas native was a bit stuck up, and constantly criticizing my play (as I said, I didn't know BS at that time). She would say things like "that's the problem with playing at the $5 table. Nobody knows how to play." She would laugh at me for standing on a 16, when the dealer was showing 10, even after the dealer busted, and I won the hand! I was up about $100 after 2-3 hours, feeling great, and I here I was getting insulted.

Later, I hit on a 12 (dealer showing 6), and she got all pissed after I busted, because the face card would have gone to the dealer (also causing a bust). She told me that I ruined the hand for the whole table with my $5 bet. In frustration, I finally told her that that was my intention the whole time, and that she was free to play at a more expensive table if she wished (which she eventually did). I was very quite up until that time, but I had finally had enough.

I understand now that using BS provides you the best chance of winning, and I am not trying to debate that. However, if you see a ploppy having a good time (and minding his own business), It may be best to not worry about what he/she is hitting/standing on.

My play is better now (I play BS), but my first Casino BJ experience was really ruined by this person.

What you don't seem to realize is: although YOU were the inexperienced player, SHE was the ploppy.

I guess that's one definition. Mine is someone who doesn't really know how to play correctly AND makes an ass out of themselves by thinking they do. I can pretty much guarantee that this woman didn't know BS. No one who blames others for their losing can really have a clue.

You didn't do anything wrong but to hurt your own chances and that's what everyone does when they first start playing. Don't sweat it.

Just made me think of just 2 days ago in AC.

My personal favorite highlight, as usual, was when I hit a 5-card 17 total versus a dealer Ace in Spanish21 (the right play believe it or not) and caught a 4 for a bonus 6-card 21 payoff, this guy 2 to my right, so it's not like I'm taking his card or something, who was pissed off the whole time anyway as my pile grew and grew and his shrunk and shrunk over the hours because I hit all 12 and 13 totals (also, needless to say, the correct play) and he never did, along with alot of other really bad plays he constantly made and I didn't, finally suffered a full psychotic break and started screaming to the pit bosses about the drunk who hit a 17 lol. Something about I wasn't allowed to do it lol.

They pretty much laughed at him but not as loudly or as long as I did.

This guy would surrender a 15 vs 9 and then I'd catch a 6 on my 15 total.

He'd wave off a 13 vs 6 and then I'd hit my 13 and catch an 8.

Without question, it was my very best work ever*

Even better than when the guy told the table he wanted to beat me up in the parking lot after I had left the table. He didn't know my wife was playing at 3rd base when he said it lol.

All for just playing BS.

Moral - know what u do is right and don't worry about the idiots - I get a genuine kick out of them. And I don't really care how bad they play anyway.

This reminds me of yesterday in Atlantic City. I had just walked up to a full $10 table with the dealer showing a 4. Pretty much the whole table had low stiff hands and stood, except for an older gentleman who had a hard 14; he hit it and pulled a 4. Dealer flips a 10 under his 4 and pulls an 8 to bust.

All the while the lady sitting next to him is pissed that he hit his 14, although he ended up saving the table. She said "I can't take this any more" and got up and left, taking her 2 friends with her. I promptly sat down and thanked the guy for the play and scaring them away :)

Long story short, I played at that table for a bit and made a few bucks, while the old guy played terrible the whole time. He was having a good time, so it's his prerogative and his money to play however he wishes.

I passed on hitting a 13 against a 4 in a negative count when my index said go. Sure enough, dealer gets my 6 and the whole table loses! Good thing I only had a min bet out. I forgot to look what the next card was, it was a face down DD game and I was not on 1st. The ploppies never knew the difference, but I bet they would have loved me if it played out as it could/should have. Those index plays can work both ways, never second guess your system.

Also picking my nose and come out with a nice booger and wipe it on a napkin for the table to admire !!!!!
So it was u last May at Salamanca that caused the dealer to suddenly loudly call out "Booger Chip in play", Booger chip". Several times. Players at adjoining tables could hear him. He pointed all aghast to something that was stuck on a chip.

I don't even think it was a booger but...

They had to stop the game. Somebody eventually came with surgeon gloves on and some Lysol and sprayed the chip and wiped it all nice and clean.

It was almost as good as Bill Murray eating the chocolate bar in the drained swimming pool.

Never seen anything so funny.
