Smoking

Back in Vegas, it's been a while since I've been in a smoky environment for more than a couple of days. My nose is suffering - I seem to be permanently congested.

Anyone have any tips about clearing out your system every day ? (sinus irrigation :-(... others perhaps?)

Sinus irrigation two to three times per day.

You can get get the NeilMed child size kit and carry it easily in your car or a "man bag."

They have some other products that look interesting, but I have only used the irrigation. Don't like Netipot - I like the bottle irrigator.

nasal congestion?

It may not be the smoke but the humidity or lack of there of. When I'm in the city my nasal passages go crazy because the air is so dry and it irritates the linings. The make a good nasal inhaler for dry nasal passages but I don't who makes it. Yes Dertroit is very smokey because you can't smoke in the Canadain casinos so most smoking gamblers stay in the U.S.

They passed a law in Fairfax, Va, stating that no smoking is allowed in a restaurant unless you have a special area for smokers that is separately vented. The poolroom cafe I frequent had to go smoke free. It was nice while it lasted. But the owner then built a small side room that was separately vented...the only catch was that it was not for the smokers, but for the non-smokers! So now we have a cafe that is 90% smoke-filled, and 10% smoke-free. What a joke! :joker:

I'm surprised smoking is actually allowed in any enclosed area over there in the USA.

Rights!

Your correct about the big brother issue Aslan. The other tough issue is gun ownership and where you can carry.

Big brother

My problem is not that smoking is permitted in casinos; it's that most casinos do not adequately provide "separate but equal" accommodations for those bothered by the smoke and that far too many smokers are beyond inconsiderate in how they exercise their privileges. Farting also is not prohibited in casinos, yet you don't usually observe players indiscriminately passing gas in confined gaming areas. Although I understand the urge of smokers to fully exercise their "rights" in one of the few indoor venues left to them, a little restraint on their behalf would result in a lot more sympathy for their "cause."

How do you know who did it!? Can you actually "observe" flatulation? People would 'blow up' if it was illegal!

In the end, the urge to gamble outweighs the urge to smoke. In the Meadows I saw a heavily smoke addicted girl ask the dealer if she could smoke. The dealer told her it is non-smoking area so she may not. I can see her was very uncomfortable. But she stayed put for another hour or so in a very busy night.

I think that holds true for most people. And someone may find a way to use gamble addiction to make people quit smoking.

Use this to your advantage. When they bitch about your farting, tell them you'll stop when they stop.

I carry in VA, PA, DE, and WVA casinos, but I'm scared of NJ. They'll lock you up and throw away the key if they catch you carrying. Another reason to avoid AC...where most the danger of being hijacked is anyway. I am now adopting a policy of valet no matter what casino I visit. Two bucks! How can one justify carrying a large bankroll down the boardwalk at night? Or even from a self-parking lot?

When they blow their smoke toward me I very conspicuously blow it back at them, and continue to do so until they get the message.

As for farting, I would think that occurs frequently, at least from reading the ways Forum APs go about emptying a table. That and not bathing seem to be high on the AP list of ploppy countermeasures. Personally, I have not yet attained that level of superior accomplishment.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a balloon that is blown to capacity, then released. Every once in a while, a ploppy launches zigging and zagging his way into the ceiling lights and eye-in-the-sky cameras! Whoooosh!!! The return trip is the killer. smiley-whacky047.gif

Yes! My doctor says it is unhealthy to hold gas. The question is, can you sit at a BJ table enveloped in a cloud of your gas and still maintain an accurate count?

courtesy!

It's more of the casino's fault for the enviroment with poor ventilation. Obnoxious smoker or anyone for that matter goes with the territory. I know alot of courteous smokers who smoke behind the table not at the table. We are a dying breed so when we are gone this won't be an issue anymore. Look if the Prez can quit smoking anyone can, right!
