Spanish 21 book

I thought I could learn to count at Spanish 21 without buying a $25 book.

My plan- get general guidelines from other posters in this forum that give away enough of Walker's strategy (tags for each card, starting running count at -4*decks), get index numbers from "Kasi" (ninth post at "http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=14682"), and info from an "Automatic Monkey" post on which were the most important index numbers to know.

Result- moderate success (up $1079 after 62 hours "play-all" spreading from $10-$120 in the AC game). Then yesterday, I noticed that lulu is now selling this ebook for just $12..... No use holding out anymore. I plunked down the cash.

Amazing read! With all the simulators around, I am shocked no one realized how beatable this game was before 2008. I strongly reccomend this book if you don't live near AC, and therefore plan on taking money from casinos other than the ones I frequent. :) Wish I got this a year and a half ago- any advantage player wanting to play something other than blackjack who doesn't own this yet, should.

Just saw an old Bill Zender article (year old) about SP21 - contains a table showing a $25-500 spread for a WR of under $40/hr (admittedly H17). Using what looks like a basic hilo count.

That does not look so impressive... ?

That looks like bad rules (H17), bad pen, play-all at a full table with no indicies. You wouldn't play blackjack like that.
Play S17 or H17 with redoubling. Find >75% pen. Wong in and out. Play the I18+. Play tables where you can get more hands per hour. (Walker was averaging 177 hands per hour heads up) That will put your theoretical on that spread over $100/hr provided your max bet comes early. The advantage of SP21 isn't that it is the best theoretical game, it is that it is the game with the most longevity for a counter. (at least for now).
