Sounds like a hc misread, attempt at steering or just some drunk (optional) fool. Some "stupid" players are dumb like a fox.kprodaniuk said:Yesterday with a dealer face showing I saw some guy who must have felt like nothing can stop him split 4's and double down on a 6 and an 8 getting a 16 and 14 while the dealer flipped his 20.
I actually came out of my chair and cracked my head on the desk... no im bleeding and i'm laughing uncontrollably! omg...moo321 said:I would've offered to buy the hand for $525
Saw that.... nice, nice.21gunsalute said:I saw this one on Tru TV. A guy is out of chips and apparently out of money, so he takes a bag of weed out of his pocket and places some in the betting circle...then decides he's put out too much and takes some back!
Sounds whack to me. :laugh:vking58 said:Saw that.... nice, nice.
Before I started counting, I had a bag in my pocket, but instead of playing the weed as money I just wished I hadn't wasted my money on it earlier, because I had some already! Couldn't pass up killer kush when I had rag weed!
Drunks will do anything. So will losers. Often I have heard from those losing their shirts, as they double down on a hard 8 in a negative count or hit a hard 14 against a dealer 6, "I've been doing all the right things and losing. I've tried everything else; maybe this will change things." Yes, it will. As a general rule, it will accelerate one's losses. :whip:dacium said:I just saw a ploppie doing the rediculous - hitting hard 17 and 18s. The first time he did he drew a 2, so he kept doing it and it ended badly for him... People will do anything in front of their drunken mates.
:laugh:SWFL Blackjack said:At a 3CP table, I had a drunk civilian take the seat next to me. He had obviously never played 3CP before, so the dealer, myself, and everybody else at the table were trying to explain the concept, and BS (Q,6,4). He could not grasp that the P+ and Ante bets were independent of each other and how the play bet worked. To simplify things (and try to get in as many hands as possible) I suggested he only play P+ so he could observe and learn the game. As a few hands were played out, luck wasn't on his side, and he was increasing his bet after each loss. He kept pulling out cash every other hand, and within the span of 10 minutes, he had probably lost $500. He looked at me, said apparently this isn't my game, and left.
A friend of mine was once reading a loader for a BP and, as sometimes happens; they were getting their BUTTS kicked. Suddenly, his BP flipped out, decided to ignore signals and started playing exactly OPPOSITE of proper strategy! They dumped 15K more before my friend was able to pull up the play.aslan said:Often I have heard from those losing their shirts, as they double down on a hard 8 in a negative count or hit a hard 14 against a dealer 6, "I've been doing all the right things and losing. More like a mental lapse than full-blown mental illness. I can guess who it was, and I can also sympathize after a fashion. One thing we all share is our humanity. :laugh:Sucker said:A friend of mine was once reading a loader for a BP and, as sometimes happens; they were getting their BUTTS kicked. What makes this story so sad is the fact that this BP happened to be and still IS known as one of the best blackjack players ever, and almost everyone who frequents this site has heard of him. I won't mention his name even if someone guesses it, but here's a couple of hints: Mental illness can strike even a genius. And no, it wasn't JG; this event happened more than 30 years ago.
Rivers has a lot of ploppies that will either not double or double for less, that's a shitload of +EV for you right there.tensplitter said:At Rivers in Pittsburgh last night I saw a ploppy who refused to double down or split anything. Even 11 vs 6 or a pair of aces. Luckily she allowed me to double or split her hands with my money. I wonder how much +EV that is worth.
In Vegas I saw someone hit to 35 on a facedown game. He had 12, hit and got a 4, hit again and got a 9, hit again and got a 10, and tried to hit again but the dealer wouldn't let him hit. I had 11 and doubled down, and my double down card was an ace. It should have been the ten that he hit after he busted.
