well i got my ass royally pounded AGAIN.
lost 200 bucks.
"went to the bathroom" on a negative shoe and came back on the shuffle. this shoe went highly positive so i spread all the way up to (gasp) 25$ from my initial bet of 10$. i had another "hand of ruin" in almost the exact same fashion as last time:

8, 8 vs dealer 2
split
8, 10, stand
8, 2, double down, 8, stand
2 hands of 18
dealer makes a 20 out of like 5 small cards and i have 75$ on the table . there goes everything.

oook lesson learned, keep saving up and whoring online casino bonuses and don't set foot in a real casino until i have at least $2000 built up... taking online bonus whoring into account and my real-life casino losses im still up about 150$


on a side note there was a guy playing who was DEFINETLY counting. he was on the 10$ table and betting as high as 250$, and 50$ off a fresh shoe. i'm assuming he went as low as 10$ on a low count since he was on the 10$ table.

After the dealer made that 5 card 20, did they shuffle? If not, what did you do next? A 5 card 20 generally raises the count unless there were a couple of aces in his 20 and of course, depending on the hands of other players at the table.
Point is: Unless you are out of money you should have been betting big on the next hand no matter if you win or lose on the hand before.

Finally, you do understand that a spread of $10-$25 will not make any money at all unless you only play after backcounting.

You have to spread if you want to play a +EV game.

or wong, obviously, but if you want to play the majority your hands, then this wont really be a possibility.. i play only positive run counts, which is about 43% of all hands, and dont spread, and have a ~.3% advantage

The cleanup table

This table was HEAVEN. The dealer was slow, so I had AMPLE time to count. At one point the count was 0 at the beginning of the hand, I lost count, and I actually had the time to recount from the start because she was that slow.

If a dealer is too fast yet you stay there you are probably making mistakes. When you catch yourself making mistakes realize that you might be, no make that probably are making many more mistakes than you realize. If you are playing at a table with 3-4 others yet the dealer is still too fast for you then you MUST go back and practice more because you are too slow.

Reading your posts I would say that you are making the usual mistakes of a beginner-count too slow, see a table deal few hands with a streak or two in them and think that is the way that table goes, don't bet properly, don't bet when you have an advantage.

But don't get down. Most everybody, myself included, made these mistakes.

Don't assume anything in a casino. Just because a player is betting big or spreading doesn't mean they know anything. Just because a player is betting $1000 a hand does not mean he knows what he is doing.

$150-250 a session is not a lot of money in a casino when you are betting $15 a pop. That could be five minutes, could be five hours. But you are not really allowig yourself ample opportunity to get a positive count. Just when the table goes positive, bam you run out of money. Matter of fact you have to be lucky to catch a positive count with $150 bankroll and $15 minimum bet. A bigger session bankroll is a good idea.

I would say you need more practice first before you need more money. No practice=no improvement. If you fail to get better then it won't matter how much money you have because the house will get it ALL eventually if you stay at your present skill level.

if i sat at a table and didn't bet during negative counts, would i get any heat? (i imagine at a full table other people will want to play, but let's say it's not a full table). or would i be better off just leavining the table and returning on a fresh shoe?

bottom line is very simple

Never go with short money - it is real simple . Build a decent bankroll and then go . You all heard about the ethnic that took a knife to a gunfight haven't you ???? Why take pennies to a casino - really dumb. If you are going short don't go - just send them a check for half what you were going to take and you will come out ahead and won't have to waste the hours driving , parking , and sitting waiting for the right count !!!! You actually will save money !!! :grin: :cool2:

you need to whore a little longer

my friend . If you are gonna play and make serious money you will need closer to a 50 k unencumbered funds. Unencumbered is your bills are paid up in advance and it is fun money . I personally would never sit at a casino for 8 hours to make $25.00 an hour . Fortunately I have a life and there is so many other things to do then that for such a pittance but that is just me . Invest the money in some high turnover merchandise like fake Rolezs, Gucci , Louis Vitton , Coach , etc etc and take 50 of them out and sell them and you make $25-$50 a purse or an item and then you had a good day and no aggrevation of casino heat , etc etc . Just make sure the cops don't catch you and if they do it is a joke offense anyways - slap on the wrist !!!!!! Used to hustle that stuff all the time back in the day !!!! :grin: :cool2:

you will get heat from the players, a lot of it, but they can kiss your ass, you can do as you please.. you also may not get as many comps, but other than that, i personally dont get heat.. i wong in and out repeatedly in the same shoe and nobody says anything to me except the players
