tokes for counting

So i have never counted in a casino as I'm still learning bs, but I have seen a lot on the forums about tokes and worst dealers/best dealers, and was wondering if anyone has ever had a dealer that knew they were counting and toked them for silence. Or do dealers even care about counting?

have tipped hush money several times. Whether dealers care or not, its impossible to know because each dealer is different. I dont think a dealer would rat out a counter that was tipping them though so thats why i do it.

The stereotypical counter doesn't tip at all (for good economic reasons), so a well placed toke can make you look like a non-counter.

But if you got a dealer that thinks that you need to bribe him/her in order to stay quiet, then you probably wouldn't be able to afford it. Some dealers seem to have an unrealistic impression of how much a gambler should tip (especially if they're having a big win).

Tipping

EasyRhino is right ..... the dealers would end up with any or all of your winnings if you tipped as THEY THINK YOU SHOULD.
If I feel that a dealer is being somewhat cooperative (i.e. cutting deeper), I make my tips as wagers for the dealer, especially when the count is favorable and I am pressing it up.

good luck

Dealers have always maintained that they prefer players winning, because winners tip more. That, however, doesn't translate in the other direction - tipping more might not make you win more, because tips are shared.

I'm pretty sure Arnold Snyder says this in one of his books: he'd be wary of any dealer who intentionally altered the cut or any other unethical/illegal thing (such as showing you a bottom card) in your favor because they'd be likely to do the exact thing against you if you were to cross them (or they perceived you were crossing them).

I usually tip when I win big, but that's because halving my EV doesn't bother me. I count for fun, not for the money.
