That would suck if you split something at a high count towards the end, hoping to be able to double down and get some 10's or A's on your split hands, and now you have a fresh deck with no increased chances of getting 10's or A's! Loss of EV if you have a big bet down...Sucker said:Every casino does have a rule which covers this very problem. Usually, what they'll do is to leave all the live hands ON the table, & take the cards from the discard tray, shuffle them, burn a card, and continue play from that point.
Can they do that? Just say sorry, dead hand, if you have say 20 vs a dealer 6 because they ran out of cards?tensplitter said:There is such a thing as too much penetration, and it is a worse problem than too little penetration. I once had the dealer run out of cards. Full table with half a deck cut off. Lots of small cards come out and a few splits. I got a pair of 8s and split, got another 8 and split again. There were 2 cards left after me, I was at 3rd base. I (correctly) predicted the last card in the shoe was small. The dealer had to hit again but there were no more cards. The pit boss voided the hand and everyone's bets pushed. Then the dealer cut off 1.5 decks from then on.
Probably depends on the authority having jurisdiction (ahj). My guess is that any casino regulated by a state gaming commission has rules that force the casino to either recycle or shuffle the discards and continue play normally. I would guess further that in any loosely regulated indian casino would leave the decision up to the pit. After a quick survey of the situation, the pit either calls the hands dead if the house is positioned to lose and continue with the discards if the house stands to win.Blue Efficacy said:Can they do that?
