well once you've developed the skill of counting accurately, all backcounting is, is hawking (in a covert way) a table that has a fresh shuffle starting. just count while not playing, if the count reachs the entry true count you desire, then you sit down and play betting according to the count.
it's kind of like stacking the deck for yourself, with out ever touching the cards.;)
 
since I'm going on friday and all I'm just going to apply basic strategy but I already know how to how to 'count' (in the least sense just that 6,7,8 is neutral etc etc) should I look for tables that are starting from a fresh shuffle and observe a few hands and enter at a positive count? with 8 decks what is a good count to enter on? counting at first sight seems just like looking at what the players and dealer are getting and if the players are getting those 10's then I enter (or is the other way around). another thing is isn't a positive count good for like just 1 hand or a few at most. l

ike say theres a true count of +4 so you enter and imagine you hit blackjack a few others get 17+'s and everyone is high and the dealer is busting now after all those high cards came out wouldn't that bring the count to negative after 1 hand? mayb i answered my own question and you have to enter with a count of 10+ at least idk?
 
question: if i take $300 ( my goal is to leave profiting but will stop at $250+). will it make a difference if I play with $100 and then leave say when I get about 75+ profit and rest a bit check out the tables then do this two more times or drop the $300. the reason i ask is because you always seem to lose faster or what not if you play with your whole bankroll at once.
 
The longer you play a game with "negative expectation",
such as Blackjack with Basic Strategy, the greater your chances of losing.

IF you really want to maximize your chances of winning
bet 1/2 of all of the money you are wiling to lose
on one hand. Split or Double Down if called for.

If you win, QUIT.
Ditto if you LOSE.

This way your chance of winning is around 48%
and that is as good as you can possibly expect.

This is not a joke.

The real edge that a casino has over you is that they have a near infinite bankroll
and you don't; and, in effect, their time is virtually infinite as well.

Your mathematical expectation is, over time, on average,
to lose a little bit of money with every hand played.

That is why the casinos will comp' you to keep you at the tables.
