It was originally called the Fry Count. 2-9 = +1 T-K = 2- and then u count the ace's as a side count.
Now i did some digging and found hi-op 2 is very similar to this
however 8 and 9 are zero value and 4 and 5 are plus 2
(for reasons i do not know but can assume are still better for the player)
Is there a name for the method i just described above? Like a hi-opt 1 1/2 lol bc it is very similar to hi-op 2

Since you asked for advice, I will give mine. Zen is a fine count and not a bad choice. If you learn it thoroughly, it is more than adequate. However, whatever count you choose, learning it thoroughly is much more important at this point than which count you choose. Whatever number of indicies you decide to learn, you need to know them front and back. And you have to be able to play that count at near 100% accuracy.darkassassin89 said:
Are you sure they have early surrender? I'm pretty sure everything in the area is late surrender. I just want to make sure you're using the correct strategy and win rates. And a lot of the games have gone to H17 so they can be tough to beat with solo straight counting. There are a few double deck games but they may not be in your area, or they might be in the high roller pit. The shoe games are probably a good place to start though.darkassassin89 said:
It may have been later surrender. If there is an ace up they always ask for insurance 1st then surrender, so my mistake. Late is what they offer. I usually take it with an ace up with 17 or lower. Watched the video. I think his assertion that hi-lo is flawed and doesn't work is flawed and not supported by the text he quotes. The book he's reading from says the creator admits to an error in his analysis and that some playing decisions are wrong, but I don't think the creator is asserting hi-lo as a whole doesn't not work. I am not the brightest guy in the world and didn't know much about blackjack, but it quickly seemed to me that in a game where the BJ payoff was 3-2, the aces were very important and needed to be included in the tracking procedure somehow.
